Headliner Color?
I ordered an X7 with the ivory white/midnight navy leather. I’m torn though about the alcantara headliner. On the 2019 model I test drove, it came with a matching midnight navy alcantara headliner. It looked real slick. The 2020s though apparently only come in black or ivory alcantara headliners even with the ivory/navy leather. Ugh. I think I’d prefer the ivory, but I’m worried about showing dirt/stains and the grubby hands of my kids. Does the black clash?
Any thoughts/opinions on what to do here? |

Hmm, I might be wrong, but I don't think the ivory white/blue is available with a light alcantara headliner in the first place. I believe only the all ivory full leather is.
I don't even think there was a change in the order guide. The only thing I'm seeing on the German Configurator is that in combination with the M-line, it only allows a graphite alcantara headliner with the ivory/navy leather. So the way I see it, you will either get the blue or graphite. In my opinion, both are fine. I'm still having difficulties telling the difference in videos/pictures. |

Yeah, this is not definitive yet. As you probably know, there are three possibilities for headliners: (1) standard non-alcantara, (2) 776 Anthracite alcantara, and (3) XD5 "Alcantara headliner in upholstery color".
The first one is obvious, and non-alcantara seems to be a light ivory color. If you get the ZMP M-sport package, or one of the Full Merino Leathers, you get the 776 Anthracite Alcantara headliner. But it seems you can get this option without these leathers as well. If you get the ZMP M-sport package, or one of the Full Merino Leathers, you can also select the XD5 "Alcantara headliner in upholstery color". The thing that doesn't seem definitive yet, though, is exactly what that means. Presumably, that would mean that you could get the headliner in one of FIVE additional colors, being ivory, coffee, tartufo, night blue, and even black, in addition to anthracite. (which is close to true black) Yes, for 2019, the ivory/blue leather included a (rather beautiful, IMHO) blue headliner. But I think for 2020, all we've seen so far is an ivory headliner. Heck, on the BMWUSA configurator, if you select "headliner in upholstery color", regardless of what leather color you have, it changes the headliner to ivory, and even the leather to full ivory. No word on if, or how much, this is a configurator error. So I think what remains to be seen is, does "headliner in upholstery color" just really mean "alcantara ivory headliner"? |

Thanks. That’s really weird as far as I am concerned that it is ambiguous at best about what the headliner color would be. 2020s are in production now, and I can’t be the first buyer to have this question. REALLY wish the blue was still an option.
One other thing I noticed: the premium package on the build page lists powered rear sunshade as a feature, but on my build, the “my garage” specs under premium list *manual* rear sunshade. What the heck? Wish BMW would be more clear about these things. |

Yeah, the rear sunshade thing is confusing all of us too. FWIW, even though it's been saying manual, so far everybody has actually still been receiving powered shades.
I personally think it's a glitch, transporting the option information from the G05.

Well, I based my post on the initial order guide but after looking at it again, there were some changes.
Interestingly enough, when it comes to the option 'XD5 Alcantara headliner in upholstery color', the order guide states that on the 40i, '(Ind) Full Merino Leather requires ordering 776 or XD5' 'XD5 requires ordering ZBEW' 'ZMP and XD5 requires ordering ZBEW' The bold one is quite interesting because if that's accurate, there is currently only one XD5 option and color and that would be the light Alcantara, matching the full all ivory (ZBEW). According to the guide, there is no light Alcantara or even the blue headliner on the ivory/blue and only the Anthracite: '(Ind)_Full Merino Leather requires ordering 4M5 and 776' ((Ind)_Full Merino Leather = ivory/blue full leather). Initially, the order guide had a bigger choice for XD5 but I guess that changed. However, even back then, XD5 was not available with the ivory/blue, option code VBEI. Only the other three full leather options were mentioned: 7/15/2019 Baxley XD5 rule update. 7/15/2019 Baxley Deleted Rules: 'XD5 requires ordering ZBEW, ZBHF or ZBSW (20SA, 20SB, 20SL)' 'ZMP and XD5 requires ordering ZBEW, ZBHF or ZBSW (20SA)' 7/10/2019 Baxley Rule correction for 776. 7/10/2019 Baxley Deleted Rules: '776 requires ordering (Ind) Full Merino Leather or (Ind)_Full Merino Leather (20SA, 20SB, 20SL)' I guess we will have to see on pictures (autotrader) what's really available but the order guide seems to be quite clear. |

Thanks everybody. It is confusing for sure. I just think when ordering a 100k car, supposedly to buyer spec, there should ideally be some clarity on what you’re actually getting! Haha?
One more question: aside from the m brakes, is the m-sport option purely cosmetic? I’ve seen conflicting comments on this point ranging from just cosmetic to changes to the suspension. |

+1 it's purely cosmetic since all X7s have 2-axle air suspension.
Ordering the M50i, nets you M Performance tuned engine in addition to eight-speed automatic tweaks and now has launch-control function, and M division tuned the suspension (still 2-axle air suspension). M Sport Differential, bigger M Sport brakes and M Sport exhaust are also standard.

Here's exactly what the M-sport package gets you on the 40i, from the ordering guide. All cosmetic. As Auricom says, the M-sport differential is only on the M50i.
On the subject of this thread, take note of the headliner options with M-sport. |

To be clear, on the 2020 M50i in the US, if you get the ivory/blue upholstery, it still comes with matching navy headliner, not black. You can see it on the configurator as well as actual pictures from people who’ve had their M50i delivered.

My 50i Luxury ivory/navy also has the navy headliner. I made 100% sure it and the steering wheel would be navy before i ordered. Black and navy together are a no-go for me. One note: the Sport trim does have a black steering wheel with the ivory/navy interior.

I’m the one person on here who can’t figure out how to post a photo from my phone. But I’m pretty sure my build sheet said “anthracite alcantara headliner,” even though it was supposed to be navy (much like the error with that said “manual rear shades”). I made my salesman call and make 100% sure. I guarantee you every 2019 with the ivory/navy had navy headliner — I stalked Autotrader looking at every dang one. I can’t say about 2020’s though.

I called BMW. Was told navy is an option. Showed my rep a 2020 vehicle with the navy headliner.
NOW he sees the "anthracite headliner delete" option but says he has to investigate further. |
