I pulled the trigger on a 40i a few weeks ago, but my delivery timeline is no where near as fast as what I'm reading by others here. Did I miss something?

Order Placed and received Production Number (x740i): 10/17.
BMW Genius confirmed a Week 49 build (11/29 - 12/05).
I'm doing Performance Center Delivery in Spartanburg (it's a lot closer relative to my dealership).

My dealer rep said the earliest pick up date is 2-weeks after the day the vehicle is finished with production, which puts me no earlier then 12/13-12/19, but could be as long as early January.

Any idea when dealers ultimately get credit for the sale (at the time of production completion or delivery)? I have to imagine they're incentivized to have sales done by year end. Hopefully it speeds up.

hoping to get the car delivered (NJ) before 11/5. fingers crossed.

I have heard so much about BMW posting videos of your car getting assembled. couldn't find it. That's not the thing anymore?

Looks like your dealer just gave you a late allocation. If you want to speed things up possibly ask them if the could trade another dealer for an earlier allocation. May be too late since they’ve already customized the allocation for you.

I ordered on 13 Oct, received production number on 20 Oct, and production began today. BMW genuis said I had a week 46 build to start on or around 9 Nov, so looks like they’re ahead of schedule.

Production didn't really begin today. It will begin on or around Nov 9th like they told you. On the status you see "production begins" means that they have assigned the VIN, that all the parts needed for production are in and the vehicle is in the production queue...the vehicle is physically built in one day.

Makes sense. Still pretty happy that things are moving along now.

Gonna need to order all my accessories now. So, fuzzy dice, CD, or high school graduation tassel from the rear view mirror? Can’t decide.

Mine says "Awaiting carrier assignment" now. Hopefully it'll be at the dealership next week, although there's a long drive from South Carolina to Texas

The car arrived at the dealership on Saturday, Oct 31. Was pleasantly surprised with the speed!

Wow it only took 1 day to be delivered at the dealership? That was fast! Congratulations!

Mine has been stuck in "awaiting carrier assignment" since Friday.

I had called BMW Genius and they said it will be on truck on sunday and will arrive on 11/3. But it came early! You could call to check if you want.

Just called and was told the car should be shipped from the factory today, and arrive at the dealership on Thursday. We'll see!

there was no change for me on sunday and when i checked this morning my status changed to "awaiting carrier assignment" at around 6am PDT. now i just happened to check again, a couple hours later and it says "dispatched from factory". it moved quick! so much quicker than the german builds.

curious if anyone has info on how long it takes to transport from south carolina to the port at oxnard here on the west coast?

Mine just got to the dealership today (San Diego) - 12 days since it switched to "In Transit".

So my car changed to "Dispatched from the factory" on Tuesday morning (supposed to be Monday), and it's been stuck since then. Does it have to go to "In Transit" first before arriving at the dealership, or does it sometimes go to "At the dealership" directly?

It certainly can show up at the dealer and not even move from Discharged.

Mine today jumped from dot 3 (Production Begins) all the way to dot 6 (Entering Assembly Line), going straight through dots 4 (Exterior Body Assembly Begins) and dot 5 (In the Paint Booth). Supposed to be done by Friday.

I too am in the same boat. I was a day behind you but seems we are both at the same stage now. Where in Texas are you? I am in Austin and my client advisor told me he was waiting for 3 X7s including mine.
