I like big trucks (and I cannot lie)
Maybe I'm on the outside fringe here, but I like MOST performance cars in some way. I also like a tastefully modified, lifted truck with some nice wheels and tires. Am I alone?

You're not alone. There's a lot of crossover between sports cars and truck enthusiasts.
I currently have a GMT800 Suburban with mild overlanding mods, really just tires and a rear storage platform/bed. My previous truck was a 2003 F-250 7.3 diesel with a 6in lift on 35s, I sold it last year because the price was too good to not sell. Before that I had a K5 Jimmy and was a pretty decent offroad rig. |

After the X5 my next vehicle is going to be a truck. I need the space. I end up using my X5 as a truck ALL the time and the interior is getting beat to fuck.
As long as the truck is tastefully modified I am all over it. A 6 inch tailpipe with wheels out past the fenders and truck nuts...not so much.

my version of a bigger truck. I really want a 45/5500 but can't totally find the use case. Well I can, but can't justify it.

I would love to have an excuse to buy a 3500 with a Cummins but I can't justify the need of a 2500 or 3500 yet alone the Diesel.

As for a Medium duty truck, I would just convert to airbags, kelderman most likely. The plan would be a camper of sorts on the back. But I have different priorities in life at the moment. to keep it some what on BMW point, doing truck stuff with the M3 out back.

I'm not "against" trucks...but I am against multiple money pits that rarely get used (the things that are towed). I'd rather live in the mountains (maybe with a truck) and be able to do all those things without having to haul something hundreds of miles.

I'm not a truck guy. I bought my first truck (2015 F150) out of necessity to pull a travel trailer. However that F150 made me a truck fan and I totally see the appeal of trucks. The F150 rode very nice and was super comfortable inside with a ton of space and with all the luxury features of any luxury car... but it can haul stuff in the bed or tow shit without having to worry about getting a hitch for your subaru. It is super practical especially if you only have 1 vehicle.
That being said I don't care for lifted trucks and all that stuff, but I'm also not into modded cars so. |

I 99% associate any lifted pick ups with some inbred Jan 6 insurrectionist so hard pass.
However, I have a practical side that loves the idea of an honest-to-god work truck that I can just beat up and it will always faithfully run. When the time comes, I'd love to own a TRD Taco or something of that size. |

Never owned a lifted truck before this one, and never owned a Chevrolet truck before. I've had lots of imports and I've owned a RAM and a couple of Fords. This truck will get used for general stuff around the house and some occasional towing. I also do a good bit of hiking and get myself into some places, driving to trailheads, where some extra clearance is nice. But if I'm honest, I like the look of this truck more than anything. Drove a Cummins for a very long time, and regretfully sold it.
Then the bug hit again last year and added a Duramax to the fleet. Still have my half ton though, although she's been hard parked for almost twenty years. |

I used to be really into them as a kid, but grew out of it. Now I'm all about sports cars, that's all I ever want to drive. But I understand the appeal of trucks, and certainly if boating, off-roading, etc. were hobbies of mine a truck would suit my lifestyle.
However I will say, a lot of truck drivers are douches just hauling around air. Trucks have become so large and so commonplace that they make driving hazardous for me and people in even sportier cars.

Totally cool bro. Oddly the folks who afford $200k plus sports cars are largely conservative. So you hate sports cars too? Even better.... fast trucks! Which reminds me..... so glad my E85 1100hp Ram TRX gets 9mpg with these fuel prices. My other duallys all are diesel so it has that evil black stuff come out the exhaust, at $5 per gallon that really cuts into my recreational hobby of idling for 12hrs a day. Which reminds me. Good thing the forestry equipment in California all have no emissions equipment in them so they don't risk sparking a fire during a regen. Those big trucks more your thing? |
