BMW 135i REliabilty Issues
I mean the BMW 135i is a new arrival in North America, however over in Europe it's been out for nearly two years. So you would think that they would fix all the bugs out before releasing it in North America, am I right? I hope these problems are only just a few out of a 100. I'm kinda getting worried after hearing all these kind of problems with people with their new BMW 135i's. I'm getting my new car on Sunday so I hope I will not run into any of the problems mentioned on here. So assuming that the 335i has the exact same engine as the 135i does it mean that there are the same issues plaquing it? I really hope everything turns out well for my new car. I kind of think that I made an impulse buy now that I think of it. I'm jumping from a Honda civic SI 2005 sedan to a BMW 135i so that is a big step. I've had my civic brand new when I bought it 4 years ago and I had zero problems now the BMW on the otherhand might be a different story. Fingers crossed.

The 1-series coupe was only released in Europe sometime around the start of 2008, which is when the 35i engine was introduced to the 1-series range. The 1 series hatch has been around in Europe for 4 years ish.

There are always small issues. Mine is a small issue that involves a big fix. I had one line of my rear defrost not work. But, since it's a vert you have to change the entire top to fix that one small problem. I'm on day 4 of waiting to get it back since it is a complicated re/re.
Having said that, I'm not unhappy.

I haven't got a 135i, but I voted on behalf of Lucy ... and although I voted no probs, it hasn't actuallybeen problem free, but a slightly hazey wing mirror that needed replacing hasn't taken any shine off of owning the car

I wonder how everybody drives their new BMW 135i when they first get it. I mean could it be that people are not letting the car break-in properly which is the reason why they don't perform well?

should we preface...
How many peoples cars have had reliability problems THAT HAVENT MESSED WITH there cars Jeremy you said yourself you installed sstt and downpipes etc... nothing to say electrical problems arent somehow related to sstt wiring etc. Nobody builds cars flawlessly, but if you install a piggy and then bitch that fuel pump went out, you cant deny that the piggy probably contributed to hpfp failure. |

look a car is only as reliable as it's weakest link... Yes hpfp could go bad without any modding, but you can absolutely not say mods don't contribute. As far as general reliability of the motor in general... Loads of car companies have straight 6 motors ad well as turbo straight 6's and I think if you compare them to the same companies other motor offerings... They stand out.
Any part has the potential of breaking under normal conditions... More power... More stress can contribute and maybe make failures more common. On a side note... The n54 has been really pretty damn good so far... IMO quite a bit better than a lot of other first gen motors. |

My comfort access acts up constantly. A third of the time, it doesn't work.

Yesterday my girlfriend got out of the car to go take a few pictures. As soon as she opened the door, the display said the keys were gone. The keys were in the same spot, in my pocket. Had to resort to plugging them into the ignition slot. Argh...
At times comfort access is cool, but other times I feel like it was a waste of $500. Couldn't bought a lotta drugs and a few hookers for that kinda cash...

You do realize what a warranty is for right? If you have a problem with something, take it to the dealer, and they'll fix it, and give you a loaner.
