I just upgraded my 2023 X7 with iDrive 8. The engine started with a whistling sound, and the dashboard displayed “Battery Fault” error. It was showing pull over, don't drive and call the service. I have parked the car, switched off the engine, waited and started again. The engine whistle sound was gone with the displayed error. Not sure what happened.

I updated as soon as it became available because I saw someone from the 7 series forums that it fixed their jerky transmission issue. It didn’t solved mine. I have been experiencing violent/jerky downshift from 2nd gear to first as I roll to stops at red lights. Anyone else experiencing this? It was pretty violent in the winter months after a cold start up. I don’t recall having this issue the first winter I had this car. ‘23 40i.

well mine did not go well. I upgraded today and now my tailgate will not open/close by pushing the button. have to do it manually and even then the car thinks its still open. guess I have a trip to dealer in my future.

my upgrade went ok, although i had an anxiety inducing couple of minutes after the install where the car would not unlock with digital key plus or the nfc card- did not have my physical keys with me and was doing the upgrade at another one of my properties away from my keys (flat open, tow truck friendly driveway just in case)

eventually the door did unlock with the key card, and was able to start the car with the nfc card (would not recognize digital key plus), and after driving and shutting down the car digital key plus started working by itself.

this update will reset remote start back to disabled- you'll need to reenable it from the climate menu. also as a matter of course i disable and then reenable services in data privacy after OTAs.

Several of us reported the unlock problem earlier in this thread. There was a message to hold the key up to the steering wheel symbol, but I am not sure that was necessary.
