- $2200 front end film
- $7000 full body film
- $600 full body 2-year ceramic coat

All in XPEL, to preserve the factory matte finish. Looking at $8k to do full body XPEL Stealth PPF, full body ceramic coat, and window tinting. Doesn't seem unreasonable for what it is. I'd want to be veeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy careful with the matte paint

Got a text from my dealer saying I'm getting one of 75 Dark Shadow editions, and asking if I had received a production date yet. So it seems they don't really know much more than me, unfortunately. I'm still not 100% sold on this.

Price seems about right for full coverage. I've seen lower and higher. You need to make sure the place is reputable for all 3 products (PPF, ceramic, tint). You would want to do full with that paint.

X2. DHP especially in the X7 hides its size a lot. At this level of vehicle it’s almost a must.

That's awesome! Excited for you! Tbh, those prices in Alaska aren't very different than a top quality shop in the Northeast. Well worth it if you plan on keeping it for a while. Makes it easier to clean at least!

This is great though. Please do let us know what you're able to spec the car with outside of the bench vs. captains.

Well if you can’t afford and don’t like its looks then you’re not in BMW’s target market.

So, I'm tempted. I'm looking at the nuts and bolts, comparing what this model gives you, compared to the 2020 BMWUSA site configurator for a M50i as comparable as you can get to it. (MY2021 configurator not up yet, and I don't want to dig into the 2021 prices, which are fairly comparable anyway) So here's what I get:

2021 Dark Shadow Edition: MSRP $119,495
Comparably configured and equipped 2020 M50i: $110,480
Difference: $9,015

MY2021 available options NOT present on the Dark Shadow Edition, according to the specs listed by the OP in this thread:
Dynamic Handling Package
Luxury Seating Package (Ventilated and Massage seats)
Space Saving Spare
Trailer Hitch

Note that the OP pictures in this thread show Rear Seat Entertainment, but not listed in the specs.

This does not include MY2020 options that are removed for MY2021, to include Ambient Air and Night Vision. Also does not account, if buyer wants to add the $850 Captain's Chairs, which is the only available option for the Dark Shadow Edition.

So, if everything is accurate, it looks like it's about a $9k premium over a comparably equipped "standard edition" M50i, for the matte paint, exclusive wheels, and exclusive combination of interior materials (available in other options, but not in this combination). And the car is well equipped, but not fully loaded. (as I would want it to be)

Grrrrrrr....
It's not just $9k. You have to assume your not getting a circa 8-10k discount which is probably negotiable of a regular M50 spec.

I have read everything I could find on this edition. Every pic shows the rear entertainment. I think it is a must at this level. Is it really confirmed it is NOT going to have RE in the Dark Shadow?? The frost paint is sick looking. It puts the RR Cullinan black version to shame.

I would love the wheels for my Vader beast.

I'm one of the lucky 75 and not sure I'll take delivery, if nothing else I helped my Dealer secure one for inventory.

Wow... You are the only one I know so far. Are you comfortable with the “frost” paint and it’s care? If so, It’s such a cool package.

I second that. Especially with the extended Shadowline trim option.

Yup, I have one on order. Good to finally meet another of the 75. (or 500)

MystroX5 I agree. As far as the RES, I'm wondering if BMWUSA is going to say "oh yes... all the OVERSEAS markets get RES with their Dark Shadow editions. But not the USA." Would be so like them.

The thing I'd have to add more than anything else would be DHP.

Here's another pic I just found on this page:

Quite interesting matte frost appearance in the sun.

Somebody reported in another thread here, that the Dark Shadow production has been pushed back to Q1 2021. I sure hope not. No official word yet

I have the original Arctic grey version of x7 Which I really love
But I am sort of starting to like the matte version also
Agree with the vast majority that maintenance is a pain
I would love a ivory white/blue interior instead of blue/black
@wild blue - congratulations on your order
I have been following your relentless search for the perfect rig over the last 2 years
I really wish you get the rig!!!
