just noticed on BMW website that they aren't offering xdrive50i anymore. only options are xdrive40i, m50i, and alphina.

Yes, that was to be expected for both X5 and X7 SAVs. The 50i V8 engine was a hold over until they could launch the M50i.

xDrive50i engine performance (4N63B44M3 4.4 L V8 twin turbo - 456hp/479ft lb/4.7sec) that's similar to M50i (newer N63B44T3 4.4 L V8 twin-turbo - 523hp/553ft lb/4.3sec) though it was only available in xLine trim, whereas M50i is only available in M Sport exterior trim plus all of the M Performance upgrades - M Differential, brakes, exhaust, etc.

So I ordered a 2021 x7 40i and should be here pretty soon...however I cannot find any confirmation if it will have the 48v hybrid system. im not sure how much of a difference it would make but seems kind of interesting on other cars.
I went on the bmw site and there is no mention of it and was wondering if any of you know...again I dont think its a deal breaker but would be disappointed if it doesnt come on the x7 as I would rather have it than not and would be even more disappointed if it comes out a few months later after I buy the car. either way im super excited...it is mineral white with tartufo ext leather with the bench seat finally...i had originally ordered it with ivory because we needed bench but found out it has changed before it went into production. msrp comes out to around $93k and ive worked out a deal for $10.5k off plus current discounts so i think i got a pretty good deal.

The whole start/stop thing would have to prob be on to allow the hybrid to work properly...who wants that? That's the first thing that everyone wants to code off.

Depends whether BMW can implement the system right. My CLS has the mild hybrid system as well as an electric supercharger that runs off the 48 volt system. Start stop is so seamless that I never have to turn it off like in my past cars. However this doesn't mean that other companies have done it right, as I found the new Audi A6 to still be intrusive unlike the system in the MB.

So I'm here with at the dealership picking up a 2021 x7 40i and it has belts and nowhere does it say there is a 48v hybrid system... kinda sucks as i believe even the suspension can benefit from this system.
Oh well... it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me though but love the fact you can get tartufo with bench seats Edit... sorry guys I was mistaken...this 2021 x7 40i definitely has the 48v mild hybrid and actually works really well with the auto start stop...i don't want to say it's seamless but it's definitely a lot smoother than the 2020 to the point where I am actually going to use it. With the ac on i couldn't even tell if the engine was off and if it turned back on when I hit the gas... glad it came with it Last edited by cleex024; 08-19-2020 at 07:01 PM.. Reason: Mistake |

I just thought of this...should have passed on the spare tire since it's so small and just bought a full size spare.
I only really need it on the long road trips and would rather have the full size spare so we can just swap the tire and continue on with the trip. With the mini-tire I can't complete the trip and will needs to swing by a shop to get it repaired wasting time. As for storage of the full size spare we always travel with a rooftop box...it would have fit right in there. Guess I can still get it and just have both. |

On the first post of this thread, under equipment changes, it states:
"Leather Dashboard (4M5) will no longer be offered on the X7 xDrive40i." However, this option still shows up on the online configurator and is in the ordering guide. Can anyone confirm that the leather dash is actually still available on the 2021 40i? |
