OTA Working for people here?
Obviously we all read about that guys nightmare of the OTA in the parking lot. Just wondering if other on here are doing this without any issues or is it smarter to do it in the parking lot of the dealer just in case? I just received my 2020 X7 built in July last Friday and is still had the 3/2020 software on it (of course). Since mine was one of the last 2020s to be built I'm probably one of the last that will received the ability to get 7/2020 OTA as well.

Did it at home
No issues what so ever. I guess it's dépendant on your current iDrive version. I had the 11.2019.50 and went to .70

I would be surprised if you have option to update on 3/2020 version July build. |

I read elsewhere (just here, no documented sources), that you'll only be able to do an OTA update to the last stable version each time a new version comes out. So 7/2020 shouldn't be available OTA until 11/2020.
I am still on 7/2019 with iDrive and the Connected App telling me there is no update available. Heading into the dealer to have them do the update to 7/2020 this week.

Can someone tell me how to make sure one does NOT get an OTA update?
My wife is taking the kids and the X7 out of state for a few weeks, I'll be joining them in 5 days as I have to stay behind. I don't want any update drama that might cause the car to be inoperable and my wife isn't very tech-savvy, I don't want her dealing with anything either. Is there a setting that says "don't update OTA ever"? Would deleting the BMW app from her iPhone do the trick? Just worried that she'll stop along the way and when re-starting have troubles, can't have that. |

There's an option for that in your connected app. Furthermore if you don't initiate the update It won't happen by itself. It's safe to say you're out of the woods unless someone triggers the update manually from the app or in the vehicle. It will also ask you few times if you're sure to proceed to update. I guess it asks to download first then to update then to install or something.
