Non run flat tire

So, my run flat tire has just ran flatted.

Scheduled an appointment tomorrow to replace all four, purchased Pirelli P Zero PZ4 Non run flat HP summer tires.

Will report back if I feel any difference in ride quality and handling.

Pirelli P Zero PZ4 UHP

So, just back from dealer.

Ride is slightly better, traction is much better.

Will report back as I continue testing.

Can we mix n match flat run and nonflat run? I mean if one of our flat run is flat can we just replace that one with a nonflat type?

I don't think so. Run flat tire has different internal structure. Driving characters will be altered, if mixed.

Thanks for the report. Are they quieter? we have the Conti's and they are kind of loud on anything but a super-smooth road surface. Hopefully they'll have an all season option by the time mine are done.

I did some high speed testing this afternoon on I-95. In term of tire noise, I didn't notice any difference, which is good for max performance summer tire.

Pirelli PZero has a technology called PNCS, which supposedly can reduce tire noise.

It's not gonna happen. I am happy if these tire can last more than 10k.

So...I just found out my X7 was built with non run flat tires. I didn't request this and assume it was an error on the dealership's part because he told me there was no charge for the spacesaver spare and added it. After reading through another thread, that's likely what caused the swap. I asked him if the tires can be changed before I do my performance center delivery in 2 weeks and they are trying to work it out for me. After reading some online reviews, wondering if I need to tell him to cancel that? Who's running run flats and are you happy with them? Under normal world conditions I do a LOT of driving and need mileage out of my tires.

I would recommend you just keep the non-runflat tires. You have a spare and you have BMW road side assistance to cover you. Opinions vary on the usefulness and comfort of run flat tires for a myriad of reasons. I am in the camp against runflat tires and would have gladly taken the non-runflat option. When my current runflats need replacement, I plan to go with non-runflats FWIW.

If you do a lot of driving, you should probably stick with the non-runflat.

1) non-run flat typically last longer than run flat
2) non-run flat typically are cheaper to replace then run flat.

The x7 is my first experience with run-flats. I love the ride but that is likely more x7 then the tire, not sure.

I intentionally ordered Non run flat tires because I think run flat tires suck.

I had a loaner X7 with run flats and as soon as I drove off the lot I could tell the tires sucked. That was before I even knew they were run flat tires. When I got home I got and looked and Yep, run flat tires.

A world of difference in ride quality between run flats and non run flats. I will never have run flats on my vehicles unless we get to a point where that's all there is available. Hopefully it will never come to that.
