Is that an option going forward even beyond this allocation? I imagine not.

Why the heck limit it to 75.

I dig it but agree on the ppf comments...matte and family car probably don't get along. I think this is one we will have to see in person to see if the overall combo works well

These special editions can usually be built as Individual spec but of course you're paying a bit more of a premium. That's what these recent special editions generally are - well spec BMW's at a discount for the options vs. a regular build. That and you get special badging. Hehehehe

Good news is that Plant Spartanburg looks to be ready to roll out BMW Individual Manufaktur 490 paints (Special request paintworks use the generic code 490) in a limited run in addition to the current Individual SABI paints (SABI paintworks are available to order within the configurator and can be selected just like normal production paint finishes).

Do you have the option to add DHP or is the car as-is?
Yeah, the only option it let me "select at time of pre-order" was to add captains chairs. (Which I did) bench was standard.

That wording makes me think (or at least hope) that more options can be added later. I want to fully load it. Still ambiguity on what configuration it comes with. A big sticky point may be DHP. If it's not included or can't add, I may cancel.

Seeing now that the dark shadow is just an option in the ordering guide, I hope that yes, I can configure other things. Still don't know about RSE
I drove a family member's 2019 50i without DHP quite a bit before getting my M50i with DHP. After driving my car for 4,000+ miles, I think there's a very noticeable difference, but the car is still fantastic without.

Good job bringing unnecessary social commentary with racist undertones. Really great work I hope that made you happy

If anything duky is racist for thinking it’s more so relevant for one race over another.
How DARE you duky.

If you think using the term "baby momma" they way they did doesn't have racist undertones then you need to get educated. Not my job to do that for you but I hope you manage to find the education and understand how saying things like this upholds a system of prejudice instead of hiding behind internet jokes.

Black people use the word all the time. Therefore we should all be able to use it.

That’s quite a stretch. If that’s the way you see things I’m sorry but it’s not exactly that black and white. Excuse the pun.
If anything you lack the education if you call someone racist based on the use of a now fairly common phrase.

Couldn't disagree with you more. It certainly doesn't drive as aggressively as my last two X6Ms, but it's no joke and handles really well for a car that comfortably fits 7 people. You should check it out.

I wouldn't order another BMW without the DHP. Had an X5 loaner a couple of summers ago and absolutely hated the drive.

Yeah, I thought I had seen it there, but I'm looking, and can't find "Dark Shadow" option or configuration anywhere in the 2021 pricing and ordering guides. Have a reference?

It's on the initial guide dated 5/20/2020 that I have. I'm wondering if they later changed things to make it a limited edition and pulled it from the guide.

So it seems the other 74 USA Dark Shadow pre-owners are not here on Bimmerpost. (or even the other 499 global pre-owners) Kind of hard talking to myself about Dark Shadow-specific stuff, lol.

I just got a quote from a local dealer in Alaska to do a matte finish paint X7.
- $2200 front end film
- $7000 full body film
- $600 full body 2-year ceramic coat

All in XPEL, to preserve the factory matte finish. Looking at $8k to do full body XPEL Stealth PPF, full body ceramic coat, and window tinting. Doesn't seem unreasonable for what it is. I'd want to be veeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy careful with the matte paint

Got a text from my dealer saying I'm getting one of 75 Dark Shadow editions, and asking if I had received a production date yet. So it seems they don't really know much more than me, unfortunately. I'm still not 100% sold on this.
