ZDH Dynamic Handling Package can't be added.
Maybe DHP is part of the dark shadow package. It is a $9800 package. Can anyone confirm?

ZDH would show up as an additional line up if it was.

ZXC Dark Shadow Edition packages color, upholstery, exterior and interior trim upgrades from the standard M50i.

In my past experience with BMW Individual Manufaktur, I'm guesstimating a third to half of the $9800 is the 490 paint.

940 is the code for BMW Manufaktur contents usually associated with headliner color change, floor carpets, A-/B- pillar trim, parcel shelf etc

See attached BMW Individual 7 Series EU for reference and example.

Other third for interior upholstery then the rest trim ($1080 for 4WW 4WW Individual Fine Wood Ash Grain trim with High Gloss Silver), alcantara, etc.

As mentioned by Auricom, each package and separate option got to be in the single line.

Dark shadow pack for 9800: Special paint, matching alcantara headliner, and many small details as a part of BMW individual Components.

Use of EU BMW sites for NA BMW builds is irrelevant.

We are in the different markets, as an example, for XB7 Alpina Alpina Blue and Green won't be available for now, Lavalina leather trim for 10K euro won't be available too. But in EU market it is available.

Thanks, what is a 64 build?

BMW's wording was rather particular, that "at time of pre-order, the only option that can be selected is 2nd row Captain's Chairs". And it completely makes sense that you couldn't delete part of an edition package, which would be like trying to delete the front nose body panel that's part of an Alpina build. What is not clear, and we can't find anything written on it, is whether items can be ADDED to the build, like ZDH DHP package. That would be added as an additional line on the build, just like ZXC Dark Shadow Edition.

BMW is always very clear in ordering guides, if adding a particular package then precludes ordering another option. i.e. it would say "ZDH Dynamic Handling Package can not be ordered with ZXC Dark Shadow Edition." But we don't see that anywhere, including in early pricing and ordering guides that included the Dark Shadow Edition.

Does anyone know of a definitive source, that specifically states that options can not be ADDED to a Dark Shadow build?

Basically, nothing can't be added, it is one way, second seat bench is standard, or you can replace it with 4U5 - Second-Row Captain's Chairs. All together 64 Dark Shadow Edition cars was ordered nationwide.
I can give you exactly numbers for bench and for Captain chairs if you wand, but NOTHING ELSE CAN NOT BE ADDED TO BUILD.

Some pics of a Dark Shadow X7 at BMW Welt. Some real interesting blues and purples.

Any chance someone reading this can visit the BMW Welt in person, and report on this car, with more pictures?

And once again someone needs to replace the blown bulbs over the vehicle since all the pics are in the shadows!! It's like meeting someone in a club with the lights turned down low and you think they look good..... but do they really?? :

First photo, side-3/4 view is the best. The rest are crap with high contrast, black points - dramatic but doesn't provide a good sense of the color unless you're driving around with your own LED lighting crew blocking out the sun.

Yeah, I noticed that. Should be decently straightforward to replace, though.

So I'm at the point where I gotta go one way or another. Either commit to the Dark Shadow, or place my official order for a loaded M50i. I'm leaning towards jumping ship from the Dark Shadow. How about you other fellow in the Dark Shadow 6?

We are passing. My dealer has found another buyer already so I dont feel bad about it. My wife likes her x740i fine for now and has ordered an m2cs also. We will see what the future hold with an alpina or other future variants.

Strange thing has happened. As all this has been going on, my local dealer that this pre-order went to (without me asking), hasn't been doing hardly anything as far as getting information and working out my order. I had left them working out the exact configuration of the Dark Shadow, which they eventually just pretty much verified the info here in this thread.

However, today they came back on a request I was sure was going to fail. The dealer says they worked with corporate, and have added three things to my specific Dark Shadow build: DHP, spare tire, and RES. They said they were not able to add the tow package.

Naturally, I'm verrrrry skeptical, especially about the RES. I don't suppose anyone else has tried this as well with their DS build.

DHP is absolutely a must for the X5 and X7. It totally transforms the ride and handling. The motoring press reports its handling as “defying physics” in a astonishing way.
