Crazy, I'm glad I got my 2020 when I did. My 40i has $10k more options that you can get now.

Wow....No ambient air, Rear entertainment or night vision for the Flagship model???? I thought maybe there might have been a chance of some early misinformation. Ridiculous. I couldn’t have purchased mine in any better time frame.

I guess this makes up for BMW screwing use first year buyers with the 50i to M50i upgrade. I ended up upgrade From 2019 X5 to 2020 X7 M50i. Looks like 2020 was the year to buy a loaded flagship model.

Anyone know if these cuts are also on the 7 series?

Looking quickly, I don’t see ambient air or night vision on the 750ix.

Ambient air and Night Vision are no longer available on any model. I believe BMW deleted them forever and they are not coming back. Unless the technology changes in the future.

You can still get RES on the 7 series.

Ja, few deletions for USA. In the UK, ambient air is included with Premium Package on up; RES still available including laser headlights on 40i/d engines.

Night Vision has been deleted from UK builds.

boooooooooooooooooo...

I mean, seriously. We all had the news that this is coming, but it's such a disappointment. Losing lots of other options too. The Full Merino black leather interior, and other colors. Even little stuff like the black wood with aluminum inserts.

I'm not too hopeful that BMW adds stuff back in mid-year, but it's possible. This is such a sucky move on BMW's part. And the X7 is supposed to be BMW's flagship SAV.

Just got my Cayenne, checked the configurator (which is for 2021 models) and there is nothing missing. Prices went up slightly, but all options were still available and more colors than the '20s. I had looked at the Alpina XB7, really weird decision to not have Alpina Green or Blue as options.

I read these changes were expected only for 2021 models due to Covid 19 related supplier issues.

The removal of some items on the 40i 'ensure' the stock for the 50i and m50 through 21.

That being said, guess we will see when 22 rolls around.

AFAIK, the only option that was removed from ONLY the 40i was the B&W audio. Every other option (full leather, trim options, ambient air, RES, night vision) was removed from all models.

Yes, unfortunately that was one of the BEST options.

I don't consider myself an audiophile by any means but I've heard that comment so many times on the forum that I just had to check that box at the last minute.

Yea, a must have option. It’s the best factory audio system I have ever heard in a vehicle. The clarity and spatial separation is outstanding.

Does anyone think they took the glass controls off the iDrive controller and volume knob so the ALPINA has that option only?? Seems odd as the crystal iDrive controller is gorgeous the way it refracts the light at its beveled edges. I can’t believe they did this for a parts shortage issue alone. Is it on the “Dark Shadow”?

I see the glass controls for the iDrive controller is still offered. It's in the picture on the configuration and in the description. The volume knob I am not sure about. It still lists it in the description but I can't verify if it is still offered or not.

Where did you here that the glass controls for the iDrive controllers mot available anymore?

Yup. I was a little down on the B&W when I picked up the car, but it seems like it's broken in a bit. Sounds warmer and crisp, but still not as good as my XC90 B&W system. Nevertheless, it's still a great system.

I'm pretty sure the glass was only removed from the volume knob, that the shifter and iDrive controller still have it with the glass option for 2021. Why they removed the volume knob? Who the hell knows

It looks like the 40i's EPA mpg went down? The electric system reduced fuel economy?

In this pic for 2021 X7. Since all the changes I have now reread the website information and studied the new pics. It looks like BMW marketing used the pic below to cleverly omit mentioning the iDrive controller. Is this the case of sometimes it’s the things you don’t mention?

https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/x-mo.../overview.html

On a similar theme, BMW highlights tthe crystal iDrive controller for the ALPINA.
