Harmon Kardon Opinions?
I have it. After a test drive, I bashed it. Stupidly, I didn't realize that you can change the equalizer settings independently at the time, so I heard bad quality music on a flat curve. AWFUL.
NOW, since I have the car and changed the equalizer settings, I can tell you it's totally worth it. If you listen to FLAC files with the system tuned to your liking, I guarantee you will love it. Much better than any previous M3 system.

the speakers look different. optically, there are (minor) differences to the other (stock and "hi-fi") audio systems. looked marvelous in my E92 with nice "finishes" on the speakers etc. (had individual audio, great stuff to my ears).

The speakers and trim look nicer than the stock speakers. The real issue is that the car has enough road noise to take away from a higher end audio experience. However, the acoustics could be degraded further with the stock system.

Yes, I'd love to see some EQ settings that people are using after some audio analysis is done.

I tried the HK and standard speaker systems "back to back" in M3s several times, playing different types of music, with the windows up and with very little road noise. There is a substantial quality difference - probably worth the $800 price. Possibly the life of the HK speakers will be greater as well - an effect noticeable only after several years. Of course no would notice any sound difference at all driving the car hard with the windows down....

Ditto that. Unbelievable amounts of road noise--from the tires, the windows...it's nuts.

Use the EQ on your audio app at the same time as your HK and you can increase the number of frequencies within your control to further optimize.

Harmon Kardon Opinions?
The enhanced sound on my E92 for $1900 was money well spent. I thought it was the best non after market system in any car, including the Burmeister in the Porsches. Before I took ownership of my M4 I was worried the $875 Harmon Kardon wouldn't live up to the E92's system. Unfortunately I was correct. Obviously this is just opinion, but I'm very curious to hear feedback from others who have experienced both systems. And lastly, anyone have any recommendations on installing a better system?
Thanks |

Use your iPod through the USB connection or CD and adjust the equalizer to your preference. The sound will be much better.

Agreed. Placing my order this week as well (based on positive reviews from forum members).
