Flat tire question
I have a 335i coupe with the run flats. It took over 50 miles to get home and the next day my car wouldn't start. Is that because I drove on the tire too far? I put the key in, all the lights came on as usual, but when I pressed the start button, nothing happened.
Also, do I have to have the car towed now or can I just jack up the car, take the wheel and tire off, bring the wheel to have a new tire put on and then come home and put it on myself? Is that an option? |

Your tire can probably be fixed. Also, remember, and depending on how old/new the tire is, you may need at least two tires, that is, if the tire can't be fixed.
Regarding not starting, I don't know, but I'd measure battery voltage with a multimeter. |

with runflats you are driving directly on the sidewall when they are flat. this causes the sidewall to flex and disintegrate from within. yes they get you home but they most likely will need replacing after they get you home because they are now structurally compromised due to being driven on the sidewall.
And marvin is right you will need to buy the tyres in pairs for safety reasons. |

So do I have to take the car in or can I just take the wheels off so I don't have to tow the car since it won't start? I'm trying to avoid towing the car. It won't start ever since I got it home.

(not) starting has nothing to do with the flat tyre. you can jack the car & take the wheel of to get it fixed, no problem, but don’t expect the car to magically start afterwards. 2 different issues there. try a battery charger as a first, then investigate further if needed.

measure the battery voltage .
put a long slow charge on it . The battery should be above 12.4 The battery in these usually last about 6 years longer if you occasionally use a battery tender. |

Jumped the car and it starts now but I have another issue. I'm getting an error saying lighting system! Stop carefully. My headlights are on, no angel eyes, no interior lights and no power windows. I've seen suggestions saying the footwell module FRM?

I did not connect directly to the battery. I used the terminals. It occured right after the jump. Everything on the car worked perfectly prior to that
And also, just fyi now......I realized I do not have run flats on my car. The dealer I bought it off of specifically told me they were run flats. I remember asking why there wasn't a spare with a jack and wrench and they told me it had run flats. I almost ruined my rim driving to the garage to get the tired changed. Luckily it was just down the road from my place a little less than a mile away. They also didn't include the lock for the lug nut. Unreal. I thought I had a great experience with that dealer but now I'm finding out other shit. In case anyone is curious.....I live in the Pittsburgh area and drove to Atlantic City to get the car.
