New to the post. :) 2008 335i

Well... we're now proud owners of a 2008 335i Sport. Honestly, going from an Audi A8-L is a bit of a shock. However, we've owned Bimmers in the past and loved every second of it! Obviously I'm a total noob at the whole forum life, so hopefully I'll learn.

Here's a couple of links to our car:

I start off by asking about the JB3. I've seen plenty of videos showcasing the major performance increase of the Juice-box, as usual I'm overly skeptical. Is this simple chip really as good as its portrayed to be, or does it have some consequences?

Sport Package. Rides with all the characteristics of an ///M Car though.

I can safely say this forum has anything and everything you could imagine for your e92, except for maybe a model to lay on it.. but hey you never know about that either

Welcome, I enjoyed your videos. You know quite a bit about these cars! I'm kind of surprised no one has set you on fire for the use of ///M Sport or even "335i Sport" - sounds like a term a car salesman laid on you, but we know you mean the car has the Sport Package.

Is this the family car or yours alone to do with as you please? Might make a difference on some of the mods.

Enjoy the new car!

Thanks guys!
This is actually our family car but I'm an avid enthusiast! BMW has been a passion of mine since early childhood. My dad is gradually seeing the light (hints him buying it) and we're looking forward to possible modifications and driving it!

Welcome and congrats on the ride!

You'll love the JB3! Bought mine shortly after buying my car and I have no regrets. Though if you're like me and have 93oct, I don't even know what map3 feels like because I went straight to map5 with just the tune.

I was also curious about the Dinan stage two chip. Everything seems to be guaranteed and covered by BMW if something malfunctions. Worth it?

I would say worth if you don't like taking your tune out for service or care about your warranty. Bang for buck however Dinan falls short IMHO.

Is it possible for BMW to see that I've chipped the car even if its out?

Congrats on your new car!

The Dinan chip is not warrantied in any way by BMW. It actually voids your BMW powertrain warranty. However, the benefit of Dinan is that their warranty program picks up where your BMW warranty ends.

+1, you actually get a warranty from Dinan that has the same characteristics of your BMW, which is why people who don't mind about cost go with the Dinan, but like they said, its expensive, but if your piece of mind is worth it then go with it.

Exclamation

That's interesting.
Is the 335i/N54 capable of handling the JB's extra boost? I know short term yes, but am I going to have issues around the 50,000 to 100,000 mile mark because of it?
