I noticed that the system supposed to automatically show surround view when you approach parking and obstacle, sometimes it does and sometimes it does not, any pointers why?

You need to hit the P button. Then all cameras activate, and show you the surroundings of the direction you are heading.

It can be a bit finicky, but it almost always triggers for me when approach obstacles at slow speed, which leads me to think there is a speed threshold.

Yes this is what I am doing, but I would like this to always trigger correctly so I do not have to press P. When I enter my garage sometimes it triggers sometimes not, I think I enter always with similar speed and position and still system randomly triggers or not

I had a streak for a while when this happened after just picking up the car. I went and disabled the automatic on for a day. Then turned it back on to auto. It's been good since.

My cameras start up whenever I go into reverse, but I don’t have a garage. At the moment I’m keeping my car parked in the yard because our parking is under trees. My car is white and gets a lot of stains from the tree dirt.

So I just hit the p button when I need the cameras. Seems like an easy solution.
