I have not checked the US BMW website but this front/rear camera is for sale under accessories in the BMW Canada website. Prices are about CAD$3000. Not worth it in my opinion. And at least they should be connected to the iDrive screen.

Does anyone have this? If so please post a wider cockpit view with the monitor. Also post pics of the camera mounted in the trunk or front bumper.
I would think this option would look funny on the 3 series. The only vehicles that have a good integrated camera have been SUVs (like Range Rover) that mask the camera in the top under exiting body parts & integrate into the onboard nav screens. A lipstick camera in the e90 trunk would stick out like a black dot. |

I thought that was a minivan exclusive! What a wonderful technological age we live in. Surveillance cams for Bimmers!

BMW is going to lose me as a customer after 16 Bimmers and Beemers if they continue to add more and more gee whiz "features" that do nothing to improve performance. Infinity is looking better and better for my next cage.
BTW, I saw a brand new Civic today and had to do a double take. It looks like an E 90 from the side and rear and in "normal" driving situations is probably a better choice at many fewer dollars. I guess I should lookd for an un-modified E30 M3 or a Grinnall Scorpion 111 to play with and buy something else for the daily driver next time around. |

Why would you leave BMW for adding features? Some are options and some are free. In either case you don’t have to buy them or you don’t have to use them. But why would you stop buying a great driving BMW just because they added a gadget? IMO, Infiniti is more about useless gadgets than BMW.

Actually if you browse the main BMW site under accessories, the flash/video shows the front/rear camera intergrated into the idrive, although it shows the E60 but should equally apply to the E90, no?

I agree with 3aficionado. If you dont like the gadgets, thats fine, dont use them. If the gadgets make you not like the car more than your love of its performance, then buy something else. Technology is progressing and so is its influence on cars. Whether you like it or not, its going to happen. My dad hated all of nav system for the longest times, but it was mostly because he was confused by them. The he saw how easy it was to use mine and currenly has one in his Touareg, aftermarket.
