That's a retail price bro for an individual part. Price a stock OG M2 in parts and it will be about $156k How much is a stock hood anyway ? A nicely equipped M3 ZCP is around 84k. An M3 CS is 98k. That's a difference of 14k. The M3 begins around 66k. That's not a 50 percent increase. It's a 33% increase. If the M2 competition is at 59k. Adding around 15k gets you to 75k. Not 95 or 100k. Assuming even a 33% increase , that means an M2 CS wouldn't scratch 90K. I personally think it would be insane for BMW to price an M2 CS at 90k. It just won't sell at that price. |

M3 CS - 98,250 - That is a 48% increase. M2 CS - $87k It you want to use M3 Comp. M3 comp - 71,250 M3 CSL - 98,250 - That is a 38% increase. M2 CS - $81k So either way, you are going to be into $90k purchasing the vehicle when it’s all said and done. That’s if you can get an allocation and also get one at msrp. If it’s a CSL forget about it, $110k+ easy. Last edited by DieGrüneHölle; 06-09-2018 at 03:29 PM.. |

No sh*t “bro”. I get economies of scale.
It was to put into perspective BMW isn’t lowering prices just because it is a M2. They still going to charge premium for that badge. Retail OG M2 bonnet - $650 Last edited by DieGrüneHölle; 06-09-2018 at 03:34 PM.. |

Not sure I would use the M3 cs model as a barometer for M2 cs pricing. As far as body panels go, M3 only needed the GTS hood. If potential M2 cs buyers are expecting the m performance carbon roof, hood, trunk, fenders to be standard. There could be a greater disparity in pricing. Also does it get the competition seats, which are already in the M3 competition? Expectations seem far fetched, wanting more equipment but at a cheaper price.

Don't forget this, if it happens, will be very limited, not overly simple to lock one down, and I believe close to the 90+ price point. Like the supreme leader says, we will see.

I've not been paying attention. The way that the M performance parts catalog has come out for the M2 smacks of amortization of costs for parts for future M2 CS by selling them as aftermarket parts as well. I also wonder if there will be any update to the M235iR as more and more of them are being campaigned in amateur racing... Or.. if BMW AG will be planning something as a stopgap for when the current M4 is gone like the z4 GTE that was pressed into service in the past. ... Gatte Any chance what you have seen could be plans for a race car ? |
