The update is pushed out in batches. Some folks may not get it OTA till July or August.

I noticed the update available on MyBMW app the other day. Have not initiated the update yet.
After completion of the software update did it wipe out the coding from RGSport?

Most likely the update will wipe out some if not all of the coding as these updates usually update most of the ECUs/modules in the car. This is normal with any factory update like this. So be prepared to recode your car either yourself (using an app like BimmerCode) or have your paid coder re-do your original coding for you (which may incur an additional fee).

In the release notes there's an important note about M Vehicles which might explain why some people are stuck at 0%.

Additionally, there's another note about Drive Recorder being reset and all videos previously recorded being deleted. I've experienced this first hand on other OTA updates. Not only does it delete all the recordings it resets everything to factory defaults.

This means that Drive Recorder is disabled until you go in and set it up from scratch. If you don't do this Drive Recorder will not record anything even if you try and manually initiate a recording. It must be setup for first time use all over again.

Remote start is another option that gets reset after the update. I'm pretty sure we had a "remote start not working" thread every 4 months for since they started actually pushing OTA updates last summer.

The update reset all of the adaptations I had coded, not just remote start or drive recorder, but S/S, alarm system sounds, default drive mode, etc. all gone. Will need to recode everything. I wonder if anti-dazzle sticks or is gone as well.

Let us know what you find out about anti-dazzle. I would hate to have to fork out $$$ every time an OTA comes along to have anti-dazzle re-coded.

Anti-dazzle will most likely be gone as well and unfortunately, the ECU that needs to be coded in order to re-activate it is not accessible using BimmerCode so you will need to use a paid coder to restore it (or use coding software which is less user friendly than BimmerCode).

I'm specifically addressing those features which are "NOT" coded through 3rd party apps/programming. Only those that are part of the option features that come standard on the vehicle when the customer took delivery of a new vehicle.

It's a known fact that many of the options that are coded using a third party app/programming will be wiped after an OTA (Over the Air) or dealer installed update since these were not included as an option when the vehicle was originally purchased.

Have been doing a road trip with great portions out of cell phone coverage, so for all I know that could be contributing.

I disabled automatic software updates via idrive and evidently it proceeded to download anyway. Today I see the message that the update is ready for installation but I’m hesitant to start the process.

Updated mine on Monday. Tried a couple times, but had to wait the 30 mins to cool down before it would start... seems pretty random, so I went out to the garage before bed and kicked it off and it was all good the next morning.

Seems pretty lame that BMW can't figure out a way to keep the settings though. My cold start was totally uninspiring Tuesday morning so I quickly switched it back to "sporty" exhaust. Also had to reset the remote start, but for the most part that's all I've found so far.

One really annoying thing so far is that the gesture control seems way more over active then normal. I talk with my hands so have a bad habit of doing things like skipping tracks and muting, but even mundane things like reaching to hit a preset now mutes the volume... wasn't that sensitive before...

Thoughts?

I've had mine for just over a week now. Things seems to be somewhat slower with this version. For example if I'm at the home screen and I press map or navigation, it used to take about 1 second to flip over to that screen, now it takes 5 seconds where everything is hung before it would flip over to it.
Going into settings, media, communication or any other screen is the same. System hangs for 5 seconds before going into the new screen. Tried rebooting/resetting idrive, that didn't seem to do anything.

I just installed update and noticed that Sirius xm has more options. It has top hits which is downloaded? It works when I'm in the underground garage which Sirius did not get a signal before and would cut out.

Problem I had immediately after install is it showed all my doors and hood being open when it wasn't and I couldn't get the tailgate to open. Shut off the car and restarted and all seems ok again. However bmw app now shows my trunk as being open when it is not. Bizarre

Also clicking the key fob three times no longer starts the car. Is anyone else having this problem?

I did not do anything special to download update. It just popped up on idrive to ask if I wanted to install and I clicked yes. Took about 20 minutes

Thanks for feedback. Definitely I would skip this update.
Can not wait for the map when the car already made 0-60...will miss all ramps....

Had this issue, you have to go into settings to enable engine start for pre-condition ventilation.

It's a pain they reset basically all customization back to default every time they do an OTA update so you have to go in and re-setup everything.

Mine also didn't recognize the credit card nfc key. Had to re-program it.

That’s not exactly how the process is designed. The stuck at 0% has nothing do with the 30-min cool down timer. That can happen in the background. The actual installation of the 100%-downloaded upgrade is what requires the post-30-min cooldown timer for M vehicles.

My preparation was stuck at 0% for a week and then magically today it started downloading. When it was ready for installation it provided clear instructions referencing the the 30-min cooldown.
