Thanks James! I did an Autocross event with BMWCCA, but it was 2 years ago. I may do another one just to make sure I get a crack at early registration.

BTW, the undercard races (Historic F1, Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Cup West) all ran the full 3.4 mile course. |

Driver's Edge is an awesome group btw, check them out if you haven't already. Whenever I move, I'm not only going to miss the variety of the tracks in Texas, but I'll especially miss that group; it seems few if any other areas in the country have an HPDE organizer like them that runs several local tracks so you get a consistent HPDE experience wherever you go rather than having to look at the schedules of all of the various tracks nearby and tag along with whatever group is running it that weekend. It's also nice to see lots of familiar student and instructor faces each weekend at several tracks. Highly recommended.

The CCA is a much larger group than drivers edge/etc. The number ofpeople that do DEs versus the total number of CCA members is rather small. An incident could potentially affect more than just the participants. CCA is more risk averse which isn't a bad thing.

True; allow me to amend my above statement: Driver's Edge HPDEs tend to be larger and occur far more frequently, which could explain why they can allow convertibles where CCA apparently doesn't.

You still missed my point. The CCA has 70k+ members. If just 7k (it's not that high) do DEs that is 10%. There is another 90% of non DE members.
TDE is a FOR PROFIT entity. Not for profit, not DE focused club versus for profit, DE company- your priorities and risk taking will be different. |

Yeah, TDE and BMWCCA are different animals. While BMWCCA's event will be quite large there will be other opportunities to get on COTA.

Sounds good, please let us know as soon as we can sign up. I'd like to run as many events as possible out there.

I would guess that you need to first become a BMWCCA member. Then pray that many people are asleep at the wheel when registration opens and then you'll get a shot. I have no other idea if other DE orgs have different requirements. I would assume not...just need to be in the know and quick when registration opens up. Be warned...you will get rock chips at this event and will probably mess up your coat of wax. I know you're a die hard waxer dude

It was just a fun poke at the actual Formula 1 cars...none of them have a roof over them.

You just need to mount an intake on top of your trunk. It will be F1-like and therefore legal.

Good news....we have contracts in hand.
Bad news...the first date isn't our first choice, but it is a good date. Good news- I DID say FIRST date. Stayed tuned for more info once we get the contract signed. |

Apparently there is a different event at COTA in Feb. The cost is...gasp...$850 for three days.
Sorry...(IMHO) you're smoking crack.
