Ughh... This is what plagued me with my F10 and I was hoping it was fixed in the F90. There are some other threads on it already. You might check in there. It seems some are affected while others aren't.

High performance brakes make noise. That's just how it is.
Think of it this way, the ones who have M5s that don't make noise are the odd ones.

However, it does happen (to all brands and makes) and there is no easy way to fix it. |

I do , and they don't squeak. Or very rarely and hardly noticeable. On my X5M , the "standard' brakes where squeaking like a school bus |

Depends how you drive the car .....high performance brakes work well when heated up. If you have a safe area take the car up 60 or so and slam on the brakes really hard several times. All my Porsche’s did the same and my old F10 ....did the above gone. See below
Brake pad bedding is an important process that removes impurities from the surface of the brake pad and lays down a thin layer of pad residue on the rotor surface. This is accomplished through repeated heated and cooling during braking. These cycles are like Goldilocks and the three bears: temperatures need to be just right to prevent scarring of the brake pad and rotor surfaces, or uneven pad transfer. Follow these easy guidelines and enjoy quiet, smooth and long-lasting braking. While every manufacturer has a different method for bedding in their brake pads, the basics remain the same—regardless of brand. Find an open stretch of road that will allow you to safely stop your vehicle multiple times Accelerate to 35 mph and apply moderate brake pressure to reduce your speed to 5-10 MPH Repeat this process 3-4 times, the goal is to warm up your brake pads Now turn up the heat even more by increasing your speed to 45 mph and braking down to 10 mph Repeat this process 3-4 times Pro Tip: It’s important to avoid coming to a complete stop during this stage as it’s possible to melt brake pads against hot rotors. Of course, should a deer, pedestrian or Sasquatch run onto the road, feel free to mash the brake pedal. Safety first! Your stop-and-go session is now complete. Park the car and allow the brakes to fully cool for an hour. For best results, avoid pressing down on the brake pedal when parked While bedding in your brakes can sound like a sensitive procedure, one funky stop isn’t going to ruin your efforts. Gas-off and heat will occurr. Drive safely and avoid emergency stops, if possible. |

2018 M5 Brake Squeal
I have just been informed by my BMW Dealership that there is nothing they can do to fix the squealing brakes on my new M5. Absolutely incredible. A $120k car that sounds like a clunker whenever you stop....
Yes, I have tried the braking hard at speed. Temporary fix. They told me at the dealership that it's because it's an "M". This is my fourth (and maybe last) M5.....none of the others squealed. I'm wondering if I can declare it a Lemon? |

My brakes have been squeaking lately and I haven't had time to really try to bed them better. The noise actually bothers me a lot less than I thought it would, probably because the insulation is so good.

Aftermarket pads are really the best solution to both dust and noise; went this route on both my F10 M5's and recently did the same on my F90 M5C. Dust and noise is gone.

I know you have only had these pads for a couple of weeks but I am interested to see if you are seeing any rotor wear. Pads are cheap, rotors not so much.

My 2013 M5 squeaked. My current 2015 M5 has carbon/ceramic and they squeak. Interesting during the recent cold and rains in SoCal they did not squeak. Yesterday with the desert winds and 80 temps they have begun squeaking again. Must be temp related. I don’t drive hard but freeways are all stop-and-go.
Has anyone tried aftermarket pads with the carbon/ceramic brakes? |

The better brakes brake at high temp and high speed the more likely they are to squeal. Some won't versus others with similar pads or rotors, but these brakes are fairly good at high speeds.

Same issue. I’m geting very annoyed. I just picked up a 2019 M5 comp. car has 170 miles in it. The squeak when I come to a traffic light or complete stop. I went to dealer and he took the car out with me and we did like 40 and slammed on the breaks like 4 times as stated above. It stopped it for a few hours. But then the noise started back up. Very annoyed
