Not that I plan on getting a "performance" sedan that fracking big anyway! My M3 is kinda right at my limit now. So I'm more worried about the trickle-down tech for the next gen M3/M4. Anyway, maybe BMW M is doing me a favor. My wife and bank account will be very happy if I stick with my current car for the next decade or so.

The SMG shifters have all been pretty nice, this shifter reminds me of the cheap ugly UKL F48 shifter.
Doesn´t look like a shifter in the top dog of the 5 series imo. The rest looks ok, but the steering wheel.

The gear selector is the best looking one I have ever seen .I would definitely go thru trouble having it retrofitted in my G30

Despite all the pessimism about the AWD I think this is going to get rave reviews.
Just needs a steering wheel designed for the car instead of one with buttons glued on. Oh and a tourer option so that you can actually use it as a proper family car |

I love M3s, but u think by the time I'm ready for a new car, this will be pretty high on my list. can't wait until it's released!

I had an extended test drive in the m550i and the ZF 8 speed is phenomenal in that car. Very quick smooth crisp responsive shifts. Always in the right gear when you needed it. I can only imagine that it's going to be even better in the M5. It's better than the DCT in the F10.

Just check out what rear calipers the AMG GT also use and you see it's not just BMW that is stuck with the floating caliper... |

I have to point out that fastest DCT in the market shifts in 6-8ms. Contact ZF (Porsche tranny supplier) for a more accurate info. DCT is consistent in downshifts at the limit where torque converter struggles after a while due to overheating. It might be just me, but I hate the half-clutch-all-the-time feel of auto tranny.
