Mustang 2015 vs 4/M4
The new Ford Mustang Shelby GT 2015 looks very agressive and nice. Who do you like it compared to an F32 or F82?

Apples and oranges comparison...Unless you're tracking them, they are really in two separate classes imo. Love both cars for what they are.
The GT350 is rumored to start at $52k, and the M4 starts at $64k. The M4's interior is a nicer place to be, but you get a lot more oomph with the GT350. Also, not sure if you mean Mustang GT or Shelby Mustang GT350, your post is unclear.

I never understood the attraction of previous mustangs. Every time I got in one I felt strangely cramped, uncomfortable, and claustrophic and couldn't wait to get out.
However reviewers love the new one, so kudos to Ford. I'll never be a mustang fan, but I'm always glad to see any car improve. I kind of doubt most M3 buyers will cross-shop mustangs, but they've always been a lot of hp bang for the buck. |

Sit in one and drive one around now that you can buy them over there. You guys haven't been missing much by not having it around.

There's a lot of F32 cues in the new Mustang design.
The GT 350 won't be available outside the US so it's a moot point, OP. That's a real shame because it's destined to be leaps and bounds better than the GT in every aspect. If Ford doesn't rape customers on lease terms (which they normally do on Shelby models), I'll shop it in a couple of years. As far as straight line performance, if the GT 350 has 500 SAE hp, it should be very similar to M3/4. Rumor has it that it'll be more though.

The 2015 Mustang, by all accounts, is world class from a chassis/dynamics/power train perspective. Aesthetics are subjective but I personally think it's very well executed in representing a 21st century pony car. Apples and oranges when comparing to a 3/4 series, but like others have said I love it for what it is. Well done Ford.

For 2015 they finally got rid of the suspension and went with independent set up (45 years behind most other cars), just so they can sell Mustangs in Europe. Up to now the European Ford dealers refused to sell Mustangs arguing that people in Europe will not even look at cars with such out-dated suspension and chassis technology. "world class"... I don't think so, worthy of selling outside US, maybe. Still have about 45 years of technology to catch up with. |

Well, I've driven the new Mustang GT twice, the last time with the performance package, and after over 50 yrs of having a bimmer in the garage (many of them M cars), I'm seriously thinking of making the switch. I wouldn't be too quick to look down your nose at the 2015 GT as an alternative to the M4, particularly for driving on the street, as outrageous as that might sound to some bimwads. The GT, well equipped with nav, upgraded audio, performance pack, etc. goes for about $41k sticker, vs $62k BASE for the M4. The GT interior is surprisingly restrained and free of Detroit muscle car bling. The stock leather sport seats have heating and cooling standard. Recaros are an option. The V8 power output at 435hp/400lb ft torque is nearly identical to the M4. The new V8 contains many of the mechanical pieces (head, rods, oil cooler) from the previous Boss 302 motor. Amazingly, the 6 speed naturally aspirated V8 GT gets nearly the same gas mileage as the M4. And I've read that Ford deliberately avoided the complication of direct injection. The V8 is port injected (like the e92 M3). No intake valve/port deposits to worry about, no HPFP to go pop in the night, and no fuel dilution in the oil concerns. And the stock V8 sounds great. No need for "active sound" enhancement tomfoolery. Even better, for aftermarket sound enhancement on the GT you can get this http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...ang-gt.881264/. Shades of Steve McQueen in Bullit. Admit it - - you like it.
I haven't had the chance to drive a M4 yet (it's on my To Do list), and I'm sure it will be a great drive, a bit faster and a bit better handling than the mustang GT, and more than a bit more expensive. BMW brand loyalty being what it is, I will probably go for the M4. On the other hand, maybe . . .

My (72 year old) father picked up a new GT with the Performance Package option (6MT). Can't wait to drive it!
BTW... My Dad was comparatively shopping BMWs by price; so the M235 was what he turned down for his pony.

I wouldn't associate "world class" to a car that is just barely qualified to be sold in more than one country. Mustangs are good for US where general population don't care much for suspension and drive train quality. More important is straight line acceleration.
Comparing it to BMW is even more ridiculous. Even Lexus with their mastery of technology and perfection can't catch up to the 3 German cars. They recently said they're now happy with 4th place. |

The S550 (2015+) Mustang IS supposedly world class by numerous reviews. In fact, some reviewers preferred the GT over the M4.
It goes to show you how much Ford really improved this generation over previous ones.

p.s. I'm not sure what happened to the prior post by another forum member who also (emphatically!) agreed with this (and included a YouTube link).

the new mustangs that I've seen out have a really annoying reverse rake stance going on. The wheel gap in front is bad.
Otherwise it is a really good looking vehicle, especially from behind. I can see buying a GT, upgrading/replacing the suspension, ... and having a really nice car for the money. |

That's the GT350 and it's absolutely gorgeous and was going to be my next car. Unfortunately I have seen unconfirmed reports we won't get them down here though, bugger!

I havnt driven one but it looks great and retains proper coupe proportions.
BMW needs to stop with the GC experiment which looks silly compared to competitions. |

Like it or not the following US 4 seaters all have faster times around VIR's 4 mile full course than the M4:
CHEVROLET CAMARO Z/28 CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1 FORD SHELBY GT500 Expect the performance versions of the new Mustang will do well with the base GT engine now up to 435 hp. Really depends what you are looking for in a car.
