I texted my dealer Friday and was told NO option to add running boards.

Will wait when I get the vehicle. I have been investigating the power running boards

My my 40i LCI dealer said there is no option to add running board but then, they could retrofit 2022 yr to my 2023 40i.

Not sure about V8 and M60i!!

From a body parts perspective, there is no difference between the 40i and M60i. So body components like grilles, headlights, running boards, etc are interchangeable between the two LCI X7 variants. However, not all body parts are interchangeable between M-Sport and Luxury Line equipped X7’s - this could be the case for the running boards (was not the case with pre-LCI models though). Although, both LCI variants share more similarities than differences when it comes to body parts….

Time will tell if running boards will become available, from the factory, for M-Sport equipped LCI models, which also includes the 40i w/M-Sport package. It would not surprise me if running boards become an option, if at all, with MY24 - which is similar timing to when running boards became a factory option after the X7 was originally released…

Enough that I will be removing them.

Just throwing it out there for your pre purchase research.
My 5'1" wife wishes I had them! I'm with you though, annoying to swing your leg past them if you don't need them.

Kids use them every time they get in and out, otherwise wouldn’t have gotten them. They are also helpful when washing the car. I don’t have the issue you’re describing when getting out.
