It's glowing on me, only if BMW named it X, don't drag the M into this when it's not.

Sorry, but it doesn’t matter who posts pictures of this “thing” or even what color it is. It’s just plain ugly. If OP has an in with Flasch please encourage him and his designers to go back to school where they can pontificate as opposed to executing in the real world.

For me it’s telling that my eye went right to the natural beauty of the landscape in each photo as opposed to honing in on the vehicle. A great design doesn’t need a great background for a photo shoot.

For me it doesn't make sense as a celebration of Motorsport, which was the original purpose of the M division. Providing cars inspired by or homologations of motor sports cars is what M means to me and many others.

I don't see this as a representation of that ethos at all. Instead I see some pricey lifestyle vehicle good at making coffee runs and bragging rights amongst soccer moms/dads and little else.

Ok I can definitely agree with that. It certainly isn't deserving of the M title. A simple rename would do it justice I think. X8 maybe? I don't like how BMW throws ///M onto all of their packages and non-M cars. Takes away a little something from the true M cars.

I just don't get the Russian Mafia-styling and where the ///M philosophy (for lack of a better word) of this thing is.

This must be the worst idea of celebrating the M1 beginning of BMW M there is.

This is out of control , my 18 MSRP in Azurite Black metallic was 121k or near it. So price point is a non starter for me. That said, side ( in that color) shot with black instead trim in gold, same at rear. Looks good , accentuates shoulders. Perhaps front would be more easily accepted if the grille(s) lighting was a iDrive setting.

I am warming up a lot to this monster. Hybrid has a lot of tax advantages here and with two small kids this is looking better and better.

Electric to save gas on the school runs and a monster for my long highway drives.

If I ever see this in person, ideally in Frozen Deep Grey/black with 100% shadow line package an no gold/red accents with the guaranteed incoming M Performance bolt-ons attached it'll look like something from a Mad Max film yet to be conceived.
In short, I think it's going to be exactly what you'd want at that price point from BMW.
Is it M?, probably but we just don't know it yet…

I'm more and more wondering about the pricing strategy from BMW between for example US and Switzerland. This car has a base price in the US that is not that much over than in Switzerland (160K $ vs 180k CHF)….

But for other Ms it's like almost double the price, for example an M3C (77k$ vs 120k CHF) and the US cars come with more standard options than here….so a fully speced M3C will be around 160K here. Weird world…

This is going to have such presence on the road, I can't wait to see one and am willing to give up body parts for one

I like the trim around the windows and upper doors, but wonder if it would look a little more finished with an M style side vent that it ends and drops into.
