Maybe. Or maybe BMW will just reduce production to reflect declining sales. It is no surprise that sales have declined in tandem with a decline in incentives. Perhaps BMW is content to not buy future sales....

BMW still has a brand cache people want and they make a passable low priced car with a roundel. A lot of people here buy it because of that, not the same reasons I buy the brand.

I found this the most surprising, but expected.

BMW’s automaking margin of 9.4 percent of revenue beat the 7 percent posted by its closest rival.

People just love SUV's regardless of size. The sales of the X3 and X5 have been pretty consistent throughout each lifecycle and model so it's not surprising to see the X3 and X5 continue to sell well.

And to think when BMW decided to use everything they gained from Rover acquisition to make the X5, people were scratching their heads thinking what business did BMW have making SUV's...

Thank you for sharing.

Very curious to know what's behind this decline. My first thought was that the economic slow down in China along with gas prices were to blame but after seeing the other manufacturers sales figures perhaps that's not the case

I'm kind of shocked at how well the X1 is selling this year.
Last year it looked like nobody wanted BMW cute-utes.

I'm also shocked that BMW keeps producing and selling the Motorboat.
Oops. I meant to type Z4 but Motorboat came out instead.

my personal guess is stock prices this year have been very flat.

real estate in the high end - at least in SoCal is flattening out.

the concern about the election is negatively affecting top spenders - even if you vote for Trump, the trade wars he is threatening is concerning to all.

uncertainty is the enemy of growth for sure.

bmw sales are also negatively affected by lack of new product.

new Q7, A4 is out
new GLE, GLC, E CLASS, C CLASS (not so new, but still)

I would predict the rest of the year is going to be slightly worse than the 1st 4 months have shown us.

The X1 is brand new so that explains the increase in sales. The z4 is being permanently discontinued this year.

I'm glad it keeps going down.

I hope they will realize cost-cutting, multiple variants strategy dont work anymore.

The new 7-series inferior quality shows in the sales. How did they decide to use cheap black door handle cover to save few cents?

Reusing the same old interior design to compete with S-class will not work.

I wonder how many of the 2 series sales in Apr were for the M2. I know volume is still low, but that must account for some of the increase for this line on the chart.

BMW is cutting production by approx 50k units this year. Due to demand in new vehicles CPO and pre-owned will be a focus.

What is up with the 7 series sales. Can't believe the g model is so much less popular than the f.
