430 hp is still more then the 380 hp you get with a GT4

I would take an R8 v8 in a minute.... I mean unless you plan on tracking competitively or just want to drag race everyone having a V10 is useless for driving at somewhat legal speeds....its cool and all to have a V10 but seriously hard to drive it at its limits or anywhere close to it on public roads.

The V8 R8 is plenty enough car to have a blast throwing around.

One of the best bargains out there right now imo.

I came to the realization that I like my car too much and felt sad not driving it for even a couple of days so I'm not done with her yet. I knew with my previous cars when I was done and this time I am not feeling it. The M4 is just so hard to beat when it comes to all aspects from value to performance and reliability. Seeing all the GT4s getting new trannys made me a bit hesitant to push as well as seeing the 718 GT4 on the horizon so just seeing where the true bottom is for that car.

I am actively looking for a GT4 though so if one does pop up I will buy it. I have not had a chance to drive an R8 quite yet

The issue with the GT4 is that they float around 85-110 which is in the same world as a 2014 GT3 then comes the "what do I daily" question as my F82 is a jack of all trades car for me that gets driven 15k a year from twisties to boring downtown traffic.

I understand where you're coming from but if I am going to buy a supercar I will want a supercar powerplant in there and not a re-purposed V8 from a sedan

All our cars are hard to drive at its limits on public roads, I hit 100 so fast I set up a speed warning for it

Sounds like a plan. I also am a firm believer in a "you'll know when you know" approach to getting rid of cars. Just a few points:

I wouldn't be concerned with GT4 third gear failures. Porsche is making it right by recalling the trannies. Just get one with the recall completed.

GT4 owners might be asking $110k, but they're not getting that unless they have PTS. High 80's is closer to true selling prices.

But if you've got $110k, then a 991.1 GT3 with the PDK and sofas might be the best daily driver of all. That for sure will make your M4 superfluous unless you need trunk and backseat space

GT4 will get your blood pumping. R8 V10 will get everyone else's blood pumping.

Yes and the time has not come yet for that! I just get tired of the same rinse and repeat and chasing the flavor of the month and both me, my wife, and my wallet are getting tired of it

Yeah there's some 110+ GT4 out there that is just comical. There's a dealer by me that has one for 98k without PCCB and buckets lol

No need for a back seat, no kids for now and when they come I'll get a daily anyways which is what my F82 is now

Agree and agree but the R8 has a sentimental value to me as well because I just remember seeing it when it came out and I was in my little 99 Civic and it just made my jaw drop, the guy floored it too and it just stuck with me that I will get one one day but now I have the P car bug

Then R8 V10 by a landslide.

If you have the P car bug, I'd look into a 991.1 GTS then as I'd rather have that than the GT4. Personal preference obviously. Or look into a 981 Spyder which is also really nice and around that price point.

Looked into it and they start at 97k on the used market which is too close to a GT3 in price for me to justify that. When you're in that price range, I would rather pull another 10k and get something truly special. Won't be a daily or else the GTS or 4S would be at play!!

Also convertibles are chick cars or for guys in their late 30s and higher

Well, the new Ford GT has a lil V6 repurposed truck engine in it and it's kicking the crap out of most of the worlds super cars

I sure wouldn't kick her out of my garage
