Yeah, it seems from most people's experiences on here that by the time you move beyond the third dot your X7 is already done.

Well, you can probably use the USB-port next to the front cup-holders under the cover to do the same. I also have a SD-card in my Q7 but I bought a tiny Samsung 256 GB USB-stick for the X7:

I like the fact that it's low profile and doesn't stick that far out - considering the location in the BMW.

Technically, you could also go with a SD- to USB-Adapter but that wouldn't look that clean.

760Lifan, I have so many questions about how a lot of this stuff works and am hoping that I just do not understand all of it. At this point, some of the features were better in my Q7. And that was two year old tech. I can't wait until you have yours for a week so I can pick your brain. Like do I have to turn on the cruise control to have lane keeping? In the Q it was always on unless I shut it off. In the X7, I have to turn on the cruise and then it, you know, turns on the cruise. So if I want lane keeping on (which I always do) then I have to set the cruise and then tap the brake? That can't be right can it?

Also, I am pretty sure I met all the parameters to use traffic jam assist. Under 40 on a clearly marked road, behind someone. But I have to hold the wheel, or at least squeeze it, every ten seconds or I get the flashing yellow lights.

Hopefully you will have some answers because so far... the car is better than the Q but the tech is way behind.

To my knowledge, the BMW has a certain capacity to store music in the system, but my library is certainly too big to store it like that (I don't think the Q7 had any audio-memory in the first place so there goes the 'better tech"..).

So I don't see any reason why you would want to take out that USB-storage....

The reason I ask is because the Q7 has a hard drive that I could store music and even audio books in. I don't have a huge collection so I never did fill it.

One of the things I love about these blogs are things like this. You didn't know (or have) a hard drive in your Q. I could have helped you there, maybe. That's what made me think the X7 has one that I just can't find.

Still hoping my other questions have answers and I'm positive I'll have more and hoping this forum will save me the trouble of searching through the manual.

Btw, the manual is in the idrive system. Videos too. I've used it to find some things I needed to know but it takes time. Maybe I'll have more time next week.

Don't be discouraged. I have been stuck at dot three since 2/5 with a 2/16 completion date, and when I checked this morning.....THE DOT FINALLY MOVED!!! Today it says "Entering the assembly line". Just hang in there. Your dot will move!

Thanks - actually, it was already yesterday but I've been so busy working on the car, I've not been able to post since then.

Buddy, there's so many buttons and settings, I sit in the thing like a kid in a candy store with a pocket full of hundreds. Best vehicle I ever owned and feel lucky every time I walk up to it. Plus the auto lock unlock and lighted welcome mat just confirm it!

Maybe we can start a new thread letting others know what we found and what we're looking for. I'm still full of so many questions. Hopefully you're so up to speed on how it all works you won't need it.

Called today. She is complete as of today. Waiting to see when she makes it to the dealership. We are close by so judging off my buddies it should only take 2 days.

Glad to see so many X7s coming together! Mine just shipped from the factory yesterday, with an ETA of Friday at the dealer. They have to prep it, install window tint and door guards, so I'm hoping we can pick it up.on Saturday. Can't wait!!
