Rumours: 3.0litre 272BHP direct injection

Anybody heard something about BMW being bussy with the R6 with direct injection and 272BHP?

Look at the threads on the Turbo 335i, the BMW document someone got there says Direct Injection will come out in that engine and then the normal engines ( late 2006), but it says the power will be the same as at the moment, but even lower fuel consumption

All AFIAK:

Euro spec 330i will be upgraded to direct injection for an 8% increase in fuel efficiency. Power output will most likely not change. Engine designation is N53. Expect launch around 6/2006

US spec 330i will stay with the N52 because of the lower quality fuel available in the Americas.

N54 Bi-turbo direct injection petrol engine is in development but not yet sheduled.
272 hp is power output of the bi-turbo 3.0 liter diesel in the E60. (535)
E90 330d will have 231hp and be available by the end of the year.

Some(German)carmags were talking about a 335(c)i a few months ago already with the 3.0 R6 biturbo.

To me that looks like a "d"on the rear designator. The wheels on that car look very similar to the ones on the sport package spy shots

No, I don't think this is an upgrade that can be done feasibly.

I don't see how the 335 will be an Evo and STi beater when the current 330i already stickers for more than those cars. You can imagine that the 335i, if it ever comes to fruition, will have a base price of around 42K and typical configurations will easily push it near the 50K range.

It's 'germans', not germins.

No 323i in the list as far as I can see. Wonder if BMW can afford to leave such a large gap between the 320i and 325i (65hp).

Anyway, according to the list, the complete E90 motor line-up would be (in Europe):

318i, 320i, 325i, 325Xi, 330i, 330Xi, 335i, 335Xi
318d, 320d, 330d, 330Xd, 335d, 335Xd
