Is BMW done with tactile buttons? What happened? Of all the manufacturers, I always thought BMW had a mind for driver interaction. They've caved to a scientifically unsafe and inefficient hype machine.

The car was recently in Austria for journalist first drives. Could be anywhere though.

When your base clientele is soccer moms and old men, this is what you get. No offense fellas. Just wait for the watered down Alpina models in a few years. The BMX5 M Sport is gonna be sweeeeet.

Looks like they're actually going to go with the concept and only put badges as stickers on the window. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see any indent of an actual badge on the rear.

I defended the G80/G82, I defended the new X7 and 7 series.

This. This right here….I can not defend.

I like it too, a blend of the XM Concept and the new X7M front headlights and rear tail lights.
I do think I needs rear spoiler like the M3 Touring, other wise it does have a Range Rover feel to it and it doesn't give it the natural lean look.

It if it is a Range Rover SVR feel then I think it would be awesome if they would make it a 2 door version like Range Rover coupe did and make it a XM CSL. Imagine!!! Absolute beast.

I want to like this, not sure its happened yet. One thing I dont see is a traditional M stance which is surprising. Thought it would sit a bit lower with a wider wheel. Hoping the finished product reflects that - last thing I would want to do is customize to achieve those types of things.

I know I loved that they were one of the few holdouts on this fad. Disappointing. Fortunately, many OEMs that went all touchscreen are backing off and adding buttons back. Audi's latest releases have added buttons, Honda's volume knob, and more. I'm cautiously optimistic the fad will pass.

XM - looks about how I expected. I wish they went closer in size to X5 than X7. The rear roofline looks oddly stretched out.

I give BMW the benefit of the doubt, I liked the big grillz but these pictures make the XM a hideous monster.

Every time i am contemplating selling one of my BMWs they come up with another design that makes me realize that it would be foolish and ill regret it. The ID8 interiors combined with monster type designs are not my personal choice. I can understand why it appeals to people with different taste.

Too bad the interior is watered down.

What's with the wheel arches not being circular?
I would genuinely like to meet the designers and chat about how and why they've come up with this. I know the design is subjective but I simply can't get my head round why this is thought to look good and I would like to understand the thinking behind it

It seems ugly cars sell , I know not the same market but something like the Nissan duke (puke!) which has sold well and is …. Well you make your own mind up about that

The interior is a big disappointment to me. Nothing like the concept (which is super cool)

Stacked exhaust looked horrid on a lexus and Ferrari California, wish others would learn from this.
