If you can bear the humiliation of downsizing to 20", you'll find much better selection, pricing and availability in 275/50R20 (which BTW has almost the same diameter as the OE 275/40R22 & 315/35R22). I'm not aware of any A/T tires in 22". If you go with A/Ts in 20" and want them to perform in snow, make sure they're 3MPSF rated. |

255/55/20 is also a fittement that will work with 20" rims.
12 options that are all severe service snow rated https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...erformance=ALL

it will depend on wheel width. 9.5 (stock) with 35. i went with 20X9 ET 22 since it was 1/2 an inch narrower than stock

I wanted to go with Bayern Autobahn 20x9 wheels in black (p/n 2090ATB255112M66), but couldn't find them in stock anywhere or get a delivery commitment from any dealer, so went with the Drag DR76 in graphite (same as Orient330iNYC) that I found in stock at mrwheeldeal.com. BMW Hub caps (p/n 36-13-6-783-536) are available from bmwpartsdeal.com and TMPS sensors are available from tmps. com (p/n RDE077V21).

see here:
https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=80 i had the graphite as well, i blacked them out with gloss plastidip. i was trying to get the black painted DR-76s but they sold out. tires are Vredestein Wintrac pros in 275/50-20. centercaps are as @streborx noted. same HUF RDE077V21 sensors as noted, they are compatible with the 2023.

I think I'd want to stick with the 9.5 Al around for aesthetic. I know the narrower the better. I like the 285/45/20 look as well. So if I use 20x9.5 I could have a et of 30 ? Should I go 21s they have a 285/45/21!

9.5 width could be tougher to find -- you have to consider the bolt pattern, hub diameter and offset first. The 275/50R20 keeps the tire circumference within 0.5% of OE, so odo and speedo errors are negligible. Other sizes will increase the error. Last time I checked, 21" was not much better than 22" for selection, price and availability, but things might have changed. 275 versus 285 is only 10mm (3/8") so it's tough to tell the difference.

Depending on how you define "smallest"... I'm running 19x9 wheels with 275/55 tires. As far as I'm aware, that makes me the world record holder for smallest wheels on the M50 . The 40i without M-Sport brakes can take certain 18" wheels.
19" looks pretty good IMO, visually they're not worse than the 22s. Different, not worse. More rugged. The brakes really fill up these wheels which I like. https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...9&postcount=21 |
