So, do you feel like the LCI and changes are fully baked?

I dig the design and the new screen. Currently, 23 M50i is headed my way, but I'm considering ordering an M60i.

Let me know - would you order your X7 again?

Thanks! What do you think of the color? Is it very metallic?

Yup - I would order it again. I don't think I would change any of the options I picked.

I like the color, wife wife likes it more (this is most important).

Its not as metallic as you would think. Most of the time it looks the grey/blue. In the sunlight you get the copper tints.

I don't have a lot of first impressions, my wife drove it home (it's our tradition). I am super happy with all of our choices.

I ordered Coffee interior as well but the shade during the ordering process looks a lot darker than yours. Did you felt the same way when you saw it in person?

I can't say that I did. My wife picked the interior color and I really never looked into it much before we got the car. She is really happy with her choice and thinks the color is exactly what she wanted.

Is the second row door trim matching the wood or is gloss black like the third row? I can't tell from the photos.

Interesting looking key.It looks good but i still prefer the look of the current M key.It is the best looking key that BMW has designed IMO.Where are the separate buttons for the alarm, unlock and the rear trunk?

On the right hand edge.

I agree with you on the last key design. This new one the buttons aren't great. I already have issues hitting the unlock on my key. Unless I press dead center on the button, it won't work. Haven't had a chance to compare it to the second key yet.

On the configurator the Coffee interior looks way darker than all the pictures I have seen that were posted by the owners of the cars. So I think the colors on the configurator are way off..

Call me Mr. Monochrome, but I like my black merino, black headliner, black carpet and black panel trim -- the ultimate in privacy (and coordinates well with my tux). Helps me stay focused on what's going on outside the car rather than being preoccupied with my exquisite taste in decorator colors.

Engine and Drivetrain - Very smooth and lots of power. It comes on about like you would expect. My prior experience was in a 2022 GLS 450. The BMW is way smoother when taking off from a stop than the Mercedes. . I would say it is a much better driving experience than the GLS.

The transmission worked well. I hardly noticed it as I was driving around, it does its job very well. Another plus

Handling - Great, as you would expect from a BMW. Great feel around corners. We have a lot of round-abouts locally and it was very composed going through those. I probably go through them faster than I should.

Others - Love the seats, super comfy and adjustable. Note: the car came with two pillows for the second row headrests. I thought it was an option, seems like it is standard (not in any of the packages I picked). We have three kids, so I guess that will be a point of contention now.

Glass controls: I was a bit worried about my choice here. It seems it was a love or hate thing on 2022 models. The controls are smaller in the 2023, so the glass controls seem less "pimpish" than before. There isn't a large shifting stalk like prior models, just a smaller switch that fits in with the rest of the car. I am happy with my choice here. Oh, and I had no issues with sunlight and glare.

iDrive 8 is okay. I am completely new to it. Last I saw of iDrive was in a 2017 X5. I feel like I am an Apple user that has just been handed an Android phone. Everything is familiar but different. It also seems to come on and stay on too much. Again, probably a setting to deal with. We will chat with the local genius to sort some of that out.

that about all I got.

PS - If you want to see something specific on the car picture wise, let me know and I will do my best.

Super Happy and excited for you guys. The car is Stunning. I was wondering ya'lls thoughts on ID8 specially since you said you are coming out of a GLS. I have been toying between the two and I generally like the GLS the X7 bthe X7 had some better features IE back up asst. ect. The GLS won on the interior until I saw ID8. So how dose it run. Is there any lag? Can you give a brief overview on how you like it compared to the GSL?

Is the third row trim gloss black plastic or your selected wood color? Do the rear doors have puddle lights?

These were taken off the 22s, wonder if they made it back for the LCI.

So ID8 has not had any lag for me. All the screens are quick and fairly intuitive. I do wish I could sort the icons on the main page by name, that would make finding things quicker. There are some other small annoyances, but that was the same with the GLS.

Comparisons to the GLS: First, my ownership experience with the GLS was not the best and only part of it was about the car (it had build quality issues). Also, my wife liked the 2022 GLS styling over the 2022 X7. This is no longer the case.

It is a really tough comparison. Especially, since I am new to the BMW. There are a few features I wish the X7 had. The GLS had microphones at all the seats so that you didn't have to shout to here each other between the front and third rows. I really liked the 48 volt system in the GLS. Every accessory ran off the 48 volt system. This means that the AC could work normally with the engine off. The GLS also had less road noise than the X7 and picked up speed limits much better than the X7 does.

The X7 has some nice features that the GLS does not. The third row is much more comfortable. It has its own physical controls and its own moon roof. This is a plus for my kids (I have 3 that all adult sized). They now almost fight to see who rides in the back. I also love the rear steering. It is super helpful for us. In fact, the whole parking package is much better than the GLS. Its not even close.

The X7 drives better, its less "floaty" than the GLS. I took it on some windy roads yesterday and I was left grinning. I can only imagine how the m-sport cars must feel.

I get way more comments on the looks of the X7. I think it looks way sharper than the GLS - but that is subjective. I really like that you can now tell the difference between an X7 and X5.

In the end - I would continue to pick the X7 of the GLS even though there are some features I miss. In the end, the positives of the X7 outweigh the positives of the GLS.
