Ah! It’s exactly 37 degrees and it says I need to drive it more to recharge battery then not be in drive ready mode. Thanks!

Is there a place that shows the latest software versions for X7 year/trim combinations?

I just purchased a used 2022 M50i and it did an OTA update to 07/2022.58, so I'm curious if that's the latest available for my vehicle.

How did you access the screen that shows you the software release notes that are titled new features and improvements?

Since the dealer updated me to 11/2022.50 the other day, unfortunately there is no access to release notes on the app.

Curious about this, why does your version say 11/2022.50 while mine just updated to 11/2022.44? Is there a newer version out already?

My guess is they are the same update but the suffix denotes a specific version for a particular car's configuration.

no, its a newer update.
the OTAs are not constantly updated, once its picked to be the OTA version, it will keep rolling out till the next big update, even if the dealer has newer point updates. next OTA update will probably be 03/2023.xx. the version at the dealer will keep incrementing as bmw releases newer versions.

I know that OTA's are usually one iteration behind. In order to get to the .50 update, i'd need to bring it to the dealership right? Not saying I would, as I dont even know the differences but I was pretty surprised when 11/2022.44 was released OTA as I didn't think there was a newer one out yet.

yup.

the dealer i believe gets weekly point releases (or more frequently if theres an issue being addressed), so they will always be more up to date.

so to answer my earlier question, the car is what triggers the update.
my car had 07/2022.33, which is pre-recall.
i did not get any prompt in the app for the new version until i went to my car and did a manual check. it took about 10 minutes for it to find the update, but it popped up on the screen and on the app. my car has been parked in a garage a few blocks away since the weekend.

odd thing is my download size is 4.0gb.

for those of you who have done the update, how long did it take?
i'm wary of installing it in my parking garage in case something gets bricked- almost impossible for a tow truck to get in, never mind a flatbed.

Thanks! Yeah I got it to trigger after I went out for a drive. I hadn’t driven the car for a few days and I assume that’s why my app couldn’t see the update.

I went for an extended drive today (about 40 mins) but apparently it still wasn’t enough to charge the battery to do the update. Guess I’ll have to go for an even longer one this weekend.

Yes….

Steps:
  1. you need to be in the car,
  2. car engine has to be tuned on (don’t have to drive),
  3. keep refreshing your app,
  4. then you get a notification

It took about <5 mins to download 1 GB update to my app, but took more than 20 mins to transfer from mobile to car (Car engine was on).

Finally,

After 20 mins, it was completed data transfer, I turned off the car and on iDrive, I clicked to install, went thru various prompts

Then:

Anyone else have their remote engine start disabled since this came online? I had to manually reconfigure it and was starting to freak out a little.

Yes same here. But it used to happen with every update in my X5 before I got the X7 so i figured this update to the X7 would be the same. And it was. I had to reconfigure it with this update as well.

Remote parking worked for me after updating my phone. And update was sent to my phone prior to that without having to do anything.
