Dash Cam Setup

I'm looking for dash cam's for the X6M. Most that I've seen are USB with a few being 12V powered cam's. Well today I noticed that in my '16 there's only a single USB and it's in the arm rest?!? I prefer using this one for my phone as I can use Spotify app through drive. What dash cam do you guys use and where are you powering it from?

I have Blackvue cameras in my X5 and the M5. These cameras come with the 12V connections so on the X, I routed the wires tot he cig lighter in the center console.

You an always have it hardwired to a power source under the front dome light panel.

The way I see it theres no good dashcam. Unless you want it for front view driving records, its totally useless. Someone hits you from the side? Can't help. Someone breaks in car? More likely to steal the camera too. Got tints all around, camera won't be able to see out at night. It drains your battery.

So what else is there? Well this has been on my mind and I came up with this.

2 of these. 1 for front i and 1 for rear . Both mounted inside.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HN...I84R1UNL&psc=1

2 of these. One for each side vent . 170 ° view.

A four channel mobile DVR , a DEI 508D dual proximity sensor and An isolator connected to a separate battery for 24hr surveillance

I'm just spitballing but together we can crowdsource something

I currently have a Nightowl Dashcam and a Vantrue N2 Pro and unless you work Uber is pretty much useless if someone hits you or vandalize your car .

I bought the M1 Dashcam, when I purchased my Max 360C Radar/Laser detector from Passport. I like that it's bluetooth and the images can be download via smartphone, also it has a Micro SD card. And the images are in 1080p. You could buy this as a standalone unit, if you choose to.

I have used ddpai cameras for a while now. Has everything you need with out a retarded price. About 6 in total. I gave them out as holiday gifts one year. All are still operational. And my original DDPai M6plus just got wired into the x5m. I used one of those amazon power modules where it shuts off power to camera when voltage drops below 11.5v. Wired it to the pass side fuse panel in the front. Fuse 38. Uses full size fuse tap. Worked like a champ. I grounded it to one of the dash mounting torx screws. You can access two of them from the side of the dash depending on your tool Arsenal. I needed to use a flex joint and went for the bottom screw.

Ive had Blackvue DR750s 2CH with cellink neo battery pack for over 3 years with no issues granted the battery is a bit weaker after 3 years where it records 10-11 hours of parking mode footage opposed to the 15-16 hours of footage I got for the first 2 years but most importantly it doesn't drain from car battery. Think I paid roughly 750$ for this setup which seems alot for a dash cam but with where I parked for work and hours of nonstop parking footage it was well worth it and actually saved me once where someone hit and ran while my car was parked. I didn't hardwire it instead I placed the battery in spare tire compartment and plugged into the 12v socket near right side cargo area.

Just got a reply back email from ThinkWare and they claim a 5 channel camera system with front rear sides and interior in development. Said it should be available early 2021. I think this should be the norm going forward. Like Tesla Sentry. I think all current dashcams are justt that . Dashcams. and they're all relatively the same .

I think. One day BMW will wake up. Put a forking hard drive into the car systems, and you have built in surround dash cam without having to do shit. Dashcam business destroyed.
