I-Drive thinks I am a complete moron...
I have a 2007.5 E92, so i have the 6 programmable I-Drive Buttons.
One thing that annoys me...Whenever my hand goes near the buttons, I get the "The Programmable Key's can be used to...etc etc etc" message. The car has told me this EVERY TIME my hand goes near these buttons. Any way to stop this??? |

If all of this is isn't how it works, then the only way I can see stopping it is to keep you hands away from the buttons. Good luck. If you find the solution, please pass it on to the others here.

All I know is that the buttons are heat sensitive. You don't have to press the buttons to see what they are programmed to. The only thing you should see when you put your fingers near the buttons are what they are programmed to.
Besides that, I don't know why you're getting that message.

I get it too and yes it's annoying. I like to use the volume knob sometimes to adjust the volume and whenever i do I think the back of my middle finger grazes the 1 button so the message pops up.

Like someone said earlier, the buttons are heat and touch sensitive. No way to turn that off. In a way, it's a nice feature, but I too have accidently grazed the buttons when near the volume control. Stick to the steering wheel control and you'll be fine!

Have to tell you, I think you guys are a little too easily annoyed. So the tabs pop up on the screen once in awhile.... so what.

I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds like you're putting your finger/hand near an unprogrammed button. As other's have mentioned, the buttons are made so you can preview what's programmed on the button before actually pressing it. It's handy: for example, say you just want to change the radio station to channel XYZ, but accidentally press the saved button that brings up some navigation destination (or something similar that is completely different than a radio station). The preview ability avoids this.
