That's pretty much exactly the X5's dashboard, good job BMW, next time just carry the 5er dash over to the 7er and call it a day.

Got to see it in a closed door preview last night. It really does look like a slightly beefed up X5. The model we saw only had 1 silver toddle switch on the lower right of the console for the full air ride suspension vs. the 2 shown in pictures. Messaging chairs sure were nice. Still not a ton of room behind the third row seats for storage, but definitely more leg room for 3rd row seats.

Same preview event

Me too for the preview. A very dark blue with dark tan seats. Beautiful interior. Seats were super comfortable. Large Grill did not grow on me, in person. More presence than X5, and looks larger--especially in height. Agree on the space behind the third row, but more knee room in second row than X5--I think that is where the extra length went. This is truly a Limo, except for the climb up when getting in the vehicle. For the Limo market, it needs a kneeling suspension when stopped. It'll be a big hit in China, if a step ladder is included. Extra width is apparent on the inside, but I never felt that my X5 was too narrow. This thing is so wide that it will feel like an Escalade in the parking lot. I suspect it will rob a LOT of 7-series and hi-spec X5 sales.

Are the 3rd row seats removable for those that don't need them?

It's the same exact thing, sat in it last month at the 8er release party. The interior of the 8 looks nothing like it.

The X5's interior is nice but I still expected more from a vehicle that's a class above in price.

Did you like the new 8 interior?

I get that they need to test it somewhere but this is the silliest thing I've seen. A massive truck on the ring. BMW has come a long ways since the days of the Ultimate Driving Machine.

They don't test the X7 on the ring in order to calibrate it like a sports car; rather they test the X7 on the ring in order to cross-check, verify & validate the integrity of the whole vehicle chassis and chassis parameters (including suspension). The Nurburgring Nordschleife is a circuit filled with so many elevation changes, corners, surface variations etc. which punish/put a lot of stress on a vehicle's chassis components thus making it one of the best places on earth to verify and fine tune the chassis integrity of a car.

Fully understand that. Let me repeat. I get that they need to test it somewhere but this is the silliest thing I've seen. A massive truck on the ring. BMW has come a long ways since the days of the Ultimate Driving Machine.

My last sentence should not be construed as flattering. An X7 is not how I would interpret the Ultimate Driving Machine. My M2 is closer to it by a long shot. My GT4 is even closer. I know I'm living in the past since they gave up that moto years ago. It just pains me to see BMW to stray further from their roots.

September 24, 2018:

The latest sighting of the G07 BMW X7 brings us the best look yet at a nearly production interior, with a dash design in the vein of the new interior styling introduced by the new 8 Series. Some of the plastic trim pieces still look pre-production quality, but check out the beautiful two-tone leather and alcantara headliner and 3-row seating.

The first ever BMW X7 will have its online reveal next month, followed by a reveal at the LA Auto Show in November.

BMW X7 Interior Spied in Near Production Form

Seats don't look that nice... perhaps its the awful two-tone colour choice.

Need to sort out 7-series in iDrive. That won't look good on day one.

Meh!
