Low quality teaser from my salesman. I'll post some better ones tomorrow.

Am I the only one who thinks that painting the surrounds and center section of the grille in body color and and then blacking out the vertical bars would be the best way of making the grille seem smaller? Even these all black versions still make the grille look huge, at least on a lighter color X7, mostly due to the thick grille frame. On a Carbon Black, Sapphire Black the black grille doesn't stand out too much, but on white, yikes.

In person the grill doesn't look that oversized and I think blacking out the grill will make it stand it more unless you have a black car or something

I did this mod. I ordered from IND. Everything was great, except I probably should have had it shipped through someone other than USPS. Two-day shipping took 10 days.
Anyway, the installation took no time at all -- less than 15 minutes and that counted taking apart things that did not need to be taken apart (I went by the X5 threads). The top taps are exposed on the X7 and once you get them released, it just pops out. The new one pops in. The camera needs to be removed from the three tabs holding it and inserted into the new grill. That is it. Very, very easy. I had done the same mod on the X5 and it was the same concept, just more difficult. I like the look better than the chrome. |

Blacked out Carbon Black
Blacked out mine last week:
Grille is from IND. Exhaust covers and wheels powder coated. Black chrome strip wrapped. Reflectors tinted (I bought reflector delete covers from IND but the install was above my pay grade) |

Thank you for those pics. Was considering the powder coat on those rims but was waiting to see something similar. Looks awesome.

I didn't think about powder coating the wheels. If I may ask, how much did that cost you? |

The powder coating wasn't that expensive, $750.
I'll get brave this weekend and try to do the reflectors, I don't like the way the tinted ones look. The shop quoted me $800 to install them, they think they have to drop the front bumper to do it, so it will have to be a DIY job. |
