Not sure about that particular image, but as I suggested in another thread, check out the German configurator:

https://www.bmw.de/de/ssl/configurat.../config/PAINT/

This is a Sapphire Black M50i without extended shadowline and it has the cerium grille.
Why use a configurator when there are videos.

X7 M50d - visually identical vehicle.

As Auricom says, they're Cerium. See the pic I posted on page 1 of this thread, straight from the BMWUSA site, stock press picture.

thanks as well...i believe that picture has a disclaimer saying something like "european model shown," which is what gave me pause...that said, with all the references that have been provided, i'm sure it's cerium, and that's great news as far as i'm concerned, especially since i can't do anything about it pre-delivery at this stage anyway (i'm in "quality check" stage, so hopefully just about week-10 days before delivery!)

That's with the extended Shadowline option.

Yes, if I go with a M50i, I will most definitely have to go with the extended shadowline option, as I prefer the black accents over Cerium, and absolutely over chrome. But I haven't seen stated yet exactly what all is blacked out in the extended shadowline. We can infer, from the pictures, but I'd need to see the actual specs, to make sure, and that it's not additional modification. The German configurator is helpful as well.

What it appears is blacked out in the shadowline:
- Front kidney grilles
- Exhaust covers
- Rear hatch horizontal chrome bar just above tail lights
- Roofbars
- Lower exterior door accents
- ALL other front intake and window trim

Basically, everything that is chrome on the 40i Luxury line, with the exception of the badging.

us configurator is finally up and the description for the extended shawdowline option is:

"Highlight the dramatic aesthetics of your vehicle by adding expressive visual enhancements to the kidney frame, an air breather inlay and tailpipe finishers in black chrome, as well as kidney struts in striking, black high-gloss."

notably, it doesn't mention the horizontal bar on the rear lift gate...the pictures in the summary page show that bar in cerium gray, even when the shadowline option is selected...will be curious to see if this is just an oversight in the configurator or actually accurate...if it's accurate, the question becomes, how did the vehicle at the M event have that bar in black?

Yeah, do see info and various pictures in the 2020 configurator thread here:

https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1643416

My various pics there are with the extended shadowline. Play with the configurator, too. Other than one of the summary pics of the rear end, it definitely looks like the configurator shows the rear horizontal bar is black chrome as well.

Umm, M Sport logo delete has always been case for all M Sport line vehicles in the US. Once in a while a vehicle for US market slips out of the factory with a M Sport fender trim. Some owners will just order the M Sport logo from the parts department and stick it on themselves or have the dealer do it on delivery.

Please elaborate on other aspects the M70d that are not visually identical beyond the M Sport fender trim.

You specially inquired on Cerium trim, the video showed you exactly the answer you were looking for.

The missing m badge on the front fenders of the M50i is easy to explain:

Both - the 40i with M Sport Package and the M50i - come standard in the US with option code 3DZ (Without Lines designation outside) which means that there won't be any badges on the front fenders.

In Germany, i.e., this is optional so I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of M50i's outside the US that will have the same badge.

Not trying to get into a pissing contest here. You stated the m70d was "visually identical" to the m50i. They're not. The amber reflectors on the m50i would be another difference.

You mistake my reply as a pissing contest.

But thank you for the feedback. In the future, I'll make sure to be more visually precise in my replies.

Actually, It's not that bad.

If you take the current 50i and add the M-Package, 22" wheels and M-Brakes, you already are at $98,100. Considering the other little add-ons you get on the M50i, you are basically getting a free engine-upgrade.

EDIT: Oh, and laser-lights are also included. Yeah, like I said, basically a free engine-upgrade...
I can confirm that M5.0 with packages is actually few hundred less than 5.0 M, I have build and ordered one then dealer said BMW is missing dashboards for the cream/blue interior and suggested I can order already 2020 M5.0. I expected price hike and to my surprise the total came few hundred less with all of the options the same so engine upgrade came free
