Well, found a Ceramic Pro shop nearby. It’ll be $2k for the top (gold) level application which comes with a lifetime warranty. The level below that is just $500 less; figure I may as well go for it. Looking forward to it. Will post pics and review when done.

Here goes some pics. These pictures are actually taken on day 2 after the application and today winds here in TX brought up a lot of dust on the car that I have not taken care of before taking the pics.

Anyone had any luck finding the Pre-Cut front Bra (paint protection film) for your X5s and X7s? Something like below;

Make sure it's a calm and a very windy day. Do not work in the direct sunlight. 1. Get the product from here https://www.opticoat.com/product/opt...oss-coat-20cc/ . I had to buy 2 of these syringes. 2. Make sure your car is clean from dirt oil, wax-like things. Its way better to have it done as soon as you get the delivery. 3. Wet the body with a damp towel. Then dry it. 4. Apply 30% Isopropyl Alcohol (70% Water and 30% Alcohol) and then dry the body again. 5. Using the sponge provided with the ceramic product, put a few drops of the product on the sponge and apply to each panel of the body. 6. Working in one panel at a time is highly recommended. Once the product applied wait about 2 minutes PER PANEL (depending on the outside temp). At the time application it was about 75 deg F at my location. The higher the temp, the lower the wait time. 7. Buff the area with a dry cloth. Do not press hard just a little pressure would be good or you would wash away the product. 8. Workout on panel by panel of the body. 9. Wait an hour and then apply the second coat. THIS IS VERY CRUCIAL BECAUSE IT WILL COVER THE PARTS THAT MIGHT HAVE MISSED. 10. Wait an hour and apply the third coat if you have some product left. When I called the maker, they said that it's better to apply and finish off the product than to store the leftover as it cannot be applied again once the ceramic is sealed into the body. In that case, you need to de-coat it before you apply it again to the area. 11. Don't forget to apply on the wheels, headlights, taillights, windshield, side mirrors etc. It just works well on Paint, plastic, and rubber. GOOD LUCK!! Ohh by the way, per the maker, you can drive off in an hour of application even if it's raining outside. Try throwing some water after a day and see how it washes off itself. I picked up the car this week following a paint correction and Modesta coating on the paint, wheels, and exterior plastic. The more I researched various coatings, it seemed the quality of the detailer and shop were just as important as the product used. We'll see how it holds up over the years. At time zero, the gloss is beautiful. In Atlanta, JC and the guys at Detailed Designs were professional and great to work with.

I've decided to get ceramic pro gold. That's 4 layers of 9h and 1 layer of light. 1700$. It's a lot more than I paid for my Jeep and cquartz 3 years ago but seems to be standard rate after doing research.
I'll post pictures next week. |

After a month of driving my new Carbon Black X7 M5.0, I could not stand the thought that I would have to keep up with the cleaning job that was ahead of me for the next 3 years. I inquired about the 'ceramic coating' and got it done last week. I got the car back yesterday and paid under $1K which I feel is worth the trouble. The car looks amazing, better than new. The jury is out on how long it will look like this. But for now, I would recommend anyone with a carbon black exterior to go find a shop that applies the ceramic coating.

My coating is certainly holding up. It's still going to get dirty because it's cold and it snows here. I do wish I would have done a film. This has nothing to do with the coating. But I have a lot of little chips in my paint. Probably at least 7 or 8 in various places. I think that would have been avoided if I did the ppf. Some say Bmw paint sucks but who knows. I know no one hit my car so it's certainly from debris.

Tint Pro's from MSP did my 2020 X7 M50i w/Kavaca PPF + Ceramic Pro. Did full body, wheels off, glass and full interior. Turned out great. I used Xpel Ultimate w/Ceramic Pro Silver on my M4 GTS two years back. It'll be interesting to see which process works out the best.

I put Xpel PPF + Si3D Nano Ceramic coating on our M50. The shine is deep with really strong water repellant features. I had the same done to my M3 and the paint has held up really strong 3 years in.

I have Ceramic Pro on 4 of my vehicles...most I paid was $700 for my Raptor. It really is money well spent. I had wash with Ajax and once dry use a 50/50 spray on mixture of water and rubbing alcohol...looks brand new.

I am also very interested in ceramic coating. Anyone knows any quality shop around dc/nova metro? Got a quote over the weekend and 2.5k for a silver plus seems a bit deep to me. Thanks in advance.
