Rear Seat Cup Holder Retrofit Question

I was looking for a solution so the kids can hold their water bottles in back instead of using the front cup holders.

In the US the rear seats do not have the rear seat arm rest with cup holders, but I did find this...

For whatever reason in the US this is only available on the convertible and the oddments tray is a different part number.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=52_4125

Can anyone with a 2 series convertible confirm if the cup holder will friction fit in the non-convertible oddments tray or if it instead clips in and I will need to buy that part too?

I don't think anyone has had any luck getting that cup holder insert to work in the coupe unfortunately. Here is a thread on it.......

It's a convertible only option. The cup holders are removable and snap into a tray similar to the one in the coupes. The trays in the coupe and convertible are different but as far as I know, no one has tried swapping out the tray as it requires you to remove the lower part of the back seat to reach the latches on the bottom which clip the tray into place. I'm not sure if the coupe and convertible trays are the same size and if they use the same latching points, but it could be worth the try unless someone has noticed an obviously different size between the two.

omasou What we know is that the flat "Oddments" tray in 2 Series coupes (part # 52207269925) and the "Oddments" tray in 2 Series 'verts (part # 52207353208; the cupholder snaps into it) have different part numbers. Also, the lower back seat moulding for the F22 (part #52207266519) and the F23 (52207274547) have different part numbers. That suggests that to work, one would need to modify the moulding and possibly the seat upholstery/padding itself to get the F23 tray to work in an F22.

Bottom line: too big of a bother.

The exactly what I meant. However, the lower back seat cushion, and nearly everything in the rear, is a completely different shape in both cars so it's possible that the opening for the oddments tray is the same size but the cushion would have differing part numbers due to the different shape and size.

Doesn't the Canadian rear seats have an armrest + cupholders?

Not positive about CA but yes some markets do...though I thought this would be a less expensive retrofit

Mine does. Not sure if it's just a Canadian thing or tied to an option package that was in the car.

Mine doesn't. As far as I know, the cupholders are a convertible option only.

They are vert only and not US. Try one of the online places or call IND they can help you track down non US part numbers

I have the part numbers. Seem as if there is a question from the 2 series guys if the vert oddment tray will fit cleanly in the coupe so that the cup insert can be used.

That's true I have a vert and it came with both. What I was trying to say is I think the cup holder is available most of ROW in coupe so should be able to source one with a little digging.
