Reading my mag today I saw a tidbit on BMW's 2012 plans...
1 series M - Dead Maybe this helps confirm that this is a one-year only build and worth keeping for future collector status. |

Heh ... I actually trust the people here more than C&D to have the facts.

For example I was told in June by Brecht BMWs CA that I could no longer order a new M3 sedan. They were selling a used 2011 M3 sedan. I told her "no way" so she took me over to the sales manager. He told me that you cannot order a new M3 Sedan, so I should buy their used one. I drove straight over to South County BMW in San Diego and I asked them if I could order an M3 Sedan. They looked at me like an alien from outer space......"of course" they said. No problem! I emailed Crevier and asked the Fleet sales manager the same thing. He said, give me a deposit, no problem! So this last 6 months of looking for 1Ms has taught me to not take salespeople and dealers at face value unless you have a good, long relationship with them. With that said, I just spoke to BMW South County San Diego and he said they can no longer order an M3 Sedan, just what is in inventory. I will follow my own advise and ask another source. Q: "How long is to the BMW 1 Series M Coupé to be built and is there a limit on numbers?" A: "This is not a limited edition." This is from an interview with an M engineer. What's he mean its not a limited edition? Must it be if its only being produced for <1 year/1000 units? |

It was supposedly limited by time, not by number to be produced. IOW, they were going to produce as many as the could in the time allotted.
