My trunk Roundell fell off

Not the whole mount, just the thin outer logo piece that is painted and bears the BMW logo came loose. It was an easy fix with silicone but has anyone else had a roundell fall off? I got lucky that it happened in my hand as I opened the trunk so I had the piece to glue back on.

Just wondering how common it is. Its a 10 year old car so shit will begin to fall off now I guess ;-)

I have a new badge for my trunk because I got the CSL trunk lid so it should be good. My front one on the hood is loosey goosey.

Oh no! Kind of strange ... do you park outdoors with the Trunk pointing to the sun most of the day? Any prior rear end accidents?

Considering the BMW emblem is probably fairly universal in construction across multiple platforms and manufacturer years, I haven't seen many if at all with this problem.

Thanks all for the replies. The car is always garaged, but that side of the car does face a window on my garage door so it could be getting a lot of direct sun. Its doubtful its a knockoff or accident related. The glue just deteriorated over a decade.

On the drive home from the dealer after purchasing my 2008 two years ago, something flew over the hood and roof on the highway at 65mph. Scared the crap out of me. Thought it was a bird or rock or some other debris.

I get home, all proud of my new car, grinning like an idiot. My kid comes out and, without even a second of looking at the car says: "That hood ornament is ugly." Sure enough the colored center of the Roundel had blown out of the chrome surround. My first "mod" was a new roundel the day i bought the car...

I lost my front roundel while on the highway a few years ago. I hit a bird dead smack in the middle of the roundel. The bird shot over the roof, and the center of the roundel bounced off the windshield. Luckily the glass didn’t chip or crack. Sorry little bird.
