Question about the M60i engine!!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm pretty sure that the engine in the X7 M60i and the 7 series sedan 760i are the same. They are both the new s68 engines with 48v mild hybrid systems. And it looks like the transmissions are the same, too.
My question is this; Why does the 760i has 536hp when the X7 M60i has only 530hp??
It's only a 6hp difference, but it bothers me a lot. I couldn't find an explanation, so can you please help me!!

Actually the x7 M60 is only rated at 523 hp! 13 hp difference!!!! (USA)

minor tuning difference for higher rpm power, x7 makes peak hp between 5500-6000, the 7 makes peak hp 5200-6500. They make the same 553 lbft but x7 1800-4600, 7 1800-5000.

Possibilities why,
-for marketing (7 was all new, x7 was an lci)
-Slightly different arrangement of intake exhaust that is somewhat more restrictive on the x7
-because suv

Maybe some combination of the above

Similar to the GM LT4 engine. Camaro ZL1 and the C7 Z06 both get 650 HP and 650 lb-ft torque but then they dropped it in the Cadillac CTV-5 Blackwing and it gets 668 and 659.

Not to mention that BMW tends to lowball actual HP its engines produce.

Thanks for the replies!

Its a relief to know that the engines are the same with same powers.
I hope BMW doesn't mess with the specs of their engines again.
It disturbs the driving pleasure mentally.
