Paint protection film (ie. 3M) purchase and installation in Calgary
Hi guys,
We bought a Murano for my wife this weekend in Edmonton and wanted to take it home right away so we didn't have time for the dealership to install the 3M film. The past couple of times I have purchased it, I have done it through the dealership. Anyone know or recommend a good shop here in Calgary where I can get this done. Thanks! |

I"ve used both 3M Trimline and Shadow Tint, in the past, for separate cars.
Trimline just moved from the NE, to near Blackfoot Trail and are harder to get to becasue not near the C train. They do a great job of carefully wrapping the panel edges, which is important to prevent the film from delaminating, and to protect the metal edge. However, they hand cut the film (rather than using a machine that cuts from a pattern specific to your vehicle), so it is not as "finished" looking. This was a few years back, so maybe they now use the machine-cut patterns. Shadow Tint is on Macleod, north of Chinook, and handy to the C train. to drop off and pick up your car. They machnie cut, but were more sloppy about wrapping the edges and in fact I had to rewrap and glue the eges of the film at the hood a few days later - it was too much of a hassle to make an appt. and take it back to them, but I should have done that. The machine cut patterns look much more appealing - look for the "bikini cut" hood wrap pattern, which follows the curvature of the leading egde of the hood. BTW, don't fall for the hard sell that you have to apply the film to the entire front bumper - the bumper is plastic and much less likely to chip than metal, which is less flexible when hit - plastic will also never rust - wrapping plastic (except the headlights, which prevents crazing - if the headlight film crazes, then just peel away and replace) is a waste of money. Both places were hundreds of $ less than the dealer quote for the same coverage (in fact, I believe that these guys often go to dealerships and have their own people apply the film there). You can find both places in the Yellow Pages. Hope this helps!! Last edited by PA66400; 11-20-2011 at 01:28 PM.. |

My recommendation is Thompson Graphics for 3M. Shadow Tinting is pretty good too.
