No rattles from mine either (yet) but on the point of the roof being a first time design by BMW - check the facts, design was a outsourced to a specialist contractor who do loads of these roofs, wasn't like BMW have just taken a guess at how it should work.
Anyway, each to their own, good luck you love either! |

I haven't heard any complaints and I drove one with 4200 miles on it. No squeaks. Have you heard squeaks while driving an e93? Let's keep this forum a place where people can visit to gather factual information. (Especially someone looking to make a large purchase). Anyone buying an new BMW will have a warranty to address such issues if they arise. Stop passing things that you heard from an uncle as facts. While we're at it, iDrive sucks because I read about it in Car and Driver.

I tried to get Koni FSDs for my E93. I was told that although the E92 shocks may fir\t the valving would be different for the E93, I assume because of the increased weight. According to Tire Rack Koni does not yet make FSD shocks for the E93. If anyone knows any different or knows of any other product I would be interested. |

I have a little over 2k miles on my E93 and have no roof rattles but even if it does crop up it just goes with owning a vert. I'll just turn up the stereo a little louder--problem solved. My 96 Z3 rattled like crazy but I loved that car so much. You take the good with the bad, just like any relationship. I love the E92. It is so much fun driving around top down (and it's still pretty sweet top up.)

Agreed, it is your opinion which you are entitled to, but as long as its made clear that it is just an opinion. |

so it seems that almost no one is getting rattles in their car. My question to the poster of that perticular comment is, what do you base your conclusion that the e93 will rattle alot? not being offensive, just curious, maybe you drive a bad tester?

As others have mentioned, all else being equal, you would expect a greater probability for rattles and such on a convertible than on a coupe with a fixed roof for obvious reasons. I only have about 2,500 miles and very rarely hear a tiny rattle coming from the rear deck. It's so small and infrequent that I haven't even bothered to check it out. If it gets worse I'm sure it's just a small adjustment that's necessary to the rear deck lid or one of the associated parts that I can perform myself or have the dealer do.
Bottom line, don't let these comments scare you away from the vert. I was a bit hesitant at first due to the fact that this is a first year model and BMW's first hard top convertible, but I don't regret my choice. This is my first convertible and I love it. If you want the option of having the top down with the convenience of the hard top I say go for it! |

We have no rattles but have had 2 problems in the last 2 weeks. First the lid was not closing all the way on the drivers side when putting the top down and was digging into the paint. We keep nothing in the trunk at all and the car has 3k miles on it.
Then after getting the car back from that, the wife had the top down last night and this happened. This is our first BMW and is starting to be a disappointment for my wife. I understand how first run cars can be but it is really frustrating.

very strange. Looks like the roof was closing on the right side, not the left, perhaps wife did have something on the side of the trunk?? I don't doubt you at all, just a question.
I was having a "clicking/jaming" noise that was fixed by the dealer, no questions asked. that chip you have on the paint is strangely similar to the one on my roof. I'll snap a pic later today and post it, mine is just a bit smaller. I was chalking it up to a flying stone/rock on the freeway, but seeing yours makes me go "hmmm".

BTW, to the OP of this thread. Nice User Name. A Crimson Red E93 is a perfect choice.

sonic03inSC,
Just looking at those pics hurts, hopefully the dealer will fix everything up for you. I can definitely understand your frustration. |

I have no clue what caused this or if it happened when she put the top down due to the small piece being bent like it is. She did not even see it after she put the top up. I just happen to stroll through the front yard and saw it.

Just got off the phone with service person and they said it was part of the earlier recall but ours is a newer build but still had the old parts on it. So the parts are on order and there is no charge to fix of course.
