I agree, at least the braking test for sure thought the wrangler would take it being the lightest. Also very surprised where the Defender landed on each test. Would have thought, with all the hype in has in the US, it would have at least placed second.

Who is dragging these things? If you wanna drag an SUV, look no further than the the track hawk. Otherwise, just why?

Cowabunga, dude!

The news section here feels more like junior high school home room than a destination for car enthusiasts.

What's next? An X7 with under-chassis purple lights? Thinking Venn diagram of Transformers, Fast and Furious, and the ugly stick.

There's something different with their Wrangler. Its limiter is at 112 mph normally and should be in the low 13s without the rollout. Wonder if the IVA scheme required some significant compliance changes for the import. Certainly sounded quieter than normal.

The X7M50 is fast and BMW sandbags their performance specs which is also very respectable in todays world of spec sheet racers.
This race isn’t any more stupid than doing it with midsize sedans like the M5. We use to say the same thing years back with “Who drag races a 4 door luxury sedan?”

Proper V8’s are being phased out so it’s still fun to see and hear them roar.

Well I haven't seen car wow take these four cars onto the track... I agree though, drag strips are stupid for those, although it does have some fun to it.

Would be nicer if all these review folks would just instead of dragging them take them on the track! I bet the X7 would still outperform the other three there.

Of course the N63 T3 takes it down. Laying down the same amount of torque as a stock F90. The speed is definitely there just in case you're late to pickup the kiddos from school.

These guys get some fans to donate their cars for the "cause". Too much risk and track insurance is too expensive to be able to get people to agree to hand over their keys to some youtube "drivers" often enough to churn out content. Throttle house manages to get one or two cars at a time on a track every few weeks at least.

I really like how they sandbag their specs to underpromise and over deliver. Throws people off more of than not for sure lol. Would've never thought that some thing big can haul a** like that.

I have a 392 Wrangler. Not surprised it lost to the X7 M50i but the 392 Wrangler is, in my view, one of the best sounding stock vehicles out there, aside from exotics. The total lack of sound insulation helps in this regard.

The 2021 models had a top speed limit of 99mph. That is why it would not go faster than 99mph. The only way to get the higher limiter is with the XR package.

What's the issue with the transmission programming short shifting 2nd and 3rd or is that programmed in to protect the drivetrain? The Wrangler looks like it's coming to stop when it goes into 2nd compared to the rest of them. Does the recon pack fix that too?

IDK about Wrangler but my Jeep GC had problems with lower gear shifting. It's a known issue for Jeep i think.

Finally a car on Carwow drag race I can directly relate to. Pleasantly surprised it beat G63 on all the tests.

They may have been using the paddles, which have a slight delay.
XR package has better gearing (faster) and somehow a higher top speed possibly tire related.

The crazy thing is XR 392 is really tall… 2” lift plus 35” KO2’s & solid rear/front axles….Car and Driver got 0-60 in 4 seconds flat. Amazing!
