F85/F86 rear brake caliper upgrade
Do anyone upgrade the rear brake caliper? Just don't know why BMW cheap out these rear calipers in all these 100k cars. even the new M5 had the single piston caliper!

I remember reading somewhere it has to do with the electronic parking break - but no clue if that's true or not. It's probably just a way for BMW to save some bucks.

At times BMW simply takes their sweet time adopting the latest and greatest tech in their vehicles. I recall when touch screen head units were common place way back in 2013 and yet it took nearly 4 years for BMW to install them on their expensive vehicles. It can be puzzling.

My E63 wagon has carbon ceramic and Brembo calipers all four corners. 6 pot front and 4 pot rear. The '14 E63 Wagon I owned had the standard steel brakes (red caliper) and all four corners were Brembo as well with the same configuration.

My 2016 FtypeR has Brembo carbon ceramics on all four. 6 pot front and 4 pot rear with separate rear electronic parking brake. Not sure why my F85 just had 1 pot rear...

I am sure there is a lot of engineering work and complex calculations going on here and the clamping force needed at the rear disc simply doesn't require any more piston surface area. Might not look as 'fancy' but it is likely it simply isn't needed. I suspect too much clamp in the back will require ABS intervention all the time.

It's to save money. 4pot in the rear of a front engine vehicle just aren't needed on the street. But that doesn't excuse them as far as I'm concerned. Hell even a 2 piston fixed would look better than the floating 1 piston and not cost that much more. But hey they do it and you still buy it.
As far as an upgrade, you have brembo rear or the rear 4 pots from the panamara can be made to fit the rotor. A company out of Russia does it. Sells on eBay for $1600. Includes calipers, paint, adapters, and as brake lines. Hell my dads 2014 F type R doesn't come with any type of fixed calipers! (Or a rear view camera or heated seats) lol

As for the retrofit by tronik, don't know if anyone on here actually did it. Tronik got banned for some reason from the board.

What about the booster? When swapping to CCB there is a different booster. When going to MPBK F15/F16 one needs to code for the upgrade. What would be needed to get that rear set functional without changing pedal feel and drivability?
