What's with the full merino leather being dropped? In my opinion its one of the best options on the X5/6/7 and makes them feel much more premium compared to other vehicles in the class.

Whoa... no full merino and no rear entertainment may be a deal breaker for me.

Rear entertainment is the single most useful option in a family car. Basically gives you control of when kids sleep or don't. (ie... 20 minutes away from home... need to keep little one awake so it doesn't ruin nap time... "HEY, Lets put Bubble Guppies on".)

Geez... not the news I was hoping for on MY2021 changes. Yes, I would want many of the items being deleted, especially B&W. I'm guessing COVID and the logistics interruption along with the plant shutdown contributed to some of these changes.

To clarify on the ventilated seats. Are they not available at all anymore? Or only as a stand-alone option?

The full merino is shocking on one of the most expensive models BMW makes. They clearly have logistical issues, which I don’t really understand. My X5 was delayed 6 weeks because of it.

Was looking at X7 to replace LR4 as family car. No rear entertainment? Probably a deal breaker here

These changes are all due to tier 1 supplier issues, as they have suppliers who were affected by the COVID-19 shutdown, it is a ripple affect. Lots of parts for the US manufactured X vehicles are sourced from Mexico. Could also be BMW Manufacturing limiting production bottlenecks such as the off road package.

Deletion of full merino leather is shocking for the "flagship" X7, but suspect there is a shortage of merino leather that is being held for the Alpina/X5M/X6M builds.

BMW's supply chain doesn't seem diversified unlike Apple that has various part suppliers.

Jay is highly regarded CA.

I have never had a single person order the RSE. People just use the iPad holder for the seats.

The car in the left lane (4 lane road) kept trucking and hit the deer middle grill. I am sure that totaled his fairly new Lincoln.

We saw the entire thing happen since we braked and he went past us.

My wife said "man, ok, that camera was worth the cost".

I am very surprised more people don't opt for the night vision.
If the car in the next lane over hit the deer, then you would have been fine without braking. What am I missing?

The deer was crossing the road from the ditch towards the middle. We were slightly ahead of the car next to us.

I can't say for sure we would have hit it because it was on the move, but i can say we DIDNT hit it because of night vision.

So please provide any proof u may have of this so we can truly make a factual and informed decision. It would be greatly appreciated.
Ditto
I spoke to my BMW guy about the changes I saw on here and he said the BMW forums are always wrong but also said he could take my build and build a 21. He called me back and said he was wrong and the changes are indeed correct. Now he's trying to trade a 2020 slot from a dealer who is in the system for one of their vehicles as dealerships want vehicles. I'm hoping to hear yeah/neah tomorrow. It's a really stupid predicament when yes, the 21 loaded is inferior to a 20 loaded. Should never happen.
You have to factor in the previously unthinkable effects of the viral pandemic to various supply chains and regional economies. Safe to say they didn't make these decisions willy-nilly.

Agreed. We're using two iPads now in the X5 and we hate it. Sticks out too far and no control. My goal was to order the rear entertainment on the next car. Hopefully they didn't take it away from the X5M.

Looks like they have the Ivory White / Night Blue Full Merino.

Also looks like no more standard 5.0 (V8) model just the 5.0M and 4.0

No RES? Lol, no way in hell I'd get an SUV without one with little ones in the back.

Don't even recommend and iPad as its wholly inferior to RES and means nothing to me as an Android family.

Lack of sales for the 50i and the upcoming Alpina XB7 likely drove this decision.

It was expected.

The 50i in the new X5 and X7 was intended as an interim engine for launch until the M50i engine was ready which is they kept the xDrive50i designation. There was always an intention to have a M Performance engine in all vehicle lines and also due to the X5 moving to CLAR platform so quickly in 5 years compared to standard 7. There's no sense to offer 3 engines options, especially 2 V8's.

Decision had nothing to do with XB7 offering.

Both the G05 X5 and G07 X7 xDrive50i will replace their launch version of N63 (456hp) with the same new 530hp engine and become X5/X7 M50i. Here's finally your explanation why they were sticking with "xDrive50i": "M50i" was reserved for the more powerful engine.
