They both look like a VAN from the back.

I prefer the X7 over the new GLS and my wife's 2018 over this new 2020 model.

Rear end reminds me of the Infiniti body language. We refer to the infinity as the "gup-truck" as it looks like something from octonauts (it you don't have young kids ... it looks like a submarine)

Agreed on the outside, especially the white for the X7/MB and the grey MB.

Wait... is this really what the new MB dash looks like? Yuck. Four airvents in a row all next to each other, underneath a horizontal skateboard-sized display?
No thanks. To be fair, I have a friend that says he's seen the new MB dashes in person, and they look good, so I'll reevaluate when I see one in person. |

I prefer my 2016 GL550 over this new one. I’ve had two GL’s, and I’ve always been a MB fan. Between my husband and I, we’ve had six Mercedes, including two AMG’s, but we’ve been so disappointed in their styling in the last few years. Even though I have my 50i on order, I’ve been so nervous about the 2020 GLS — I was secretly afraid I’d end up liking it better when it was revealed. So I’m breathing a sigh of relief this week. This new one is nowhere near as sleek as the X7. The front is barely any different from what it’s been for a decade, and the rear looks very similar to the X7, but it misses the mark somewhere. Even my upgraded Designo interior on my current GL isn’t as plush as the Individual interior I have coming. I am happy to see that MB is finally putting captains chairs as an option for the 2nd row — that was honestly my biggest reason for jumping ship.

When the first pics of the GLS began posting a few days ago, like you, I was relieved that I made the right choice. I think it's nice looking and an improvement over the previous generation but it too is a bit underwhelming, especially the interior which to me needs more pop. But Mercedes makes a great SUV and looks are subjective. So if someone would rather spend their hard-earned money on GLS, to each his own. In the end how does their buying a GLS affect you one way or the other? |

The BMW is crisp, taught, fit looking while the Mercedes looks a bit bloated, round and soft in comparison. This assessment, to my eye, reflects both the exterior and interior design. I am not a fan of the two tone interior of the BMW, but one need not choose that configuration.

I definitely like the X7 exterior but I'm a fan on the single display/info screen on the MB. With that said, it looks like it isn't integrated into the dash and has a bezel on the top by the driver. Basically, if it looks like the Porsche Panamera I'm sold, that is a good integration of a skateboard iPad. I don't even mind the 4 dash vents. Motor options, I like the 6 and 8 options BMW has.
