The side doors large dimple looked like a dent. Totally unnecessary and made it ugly.
Where is the super duper V12 600Hp engine option?

Agreed. Mercedes seems to just throw as much shit in there as possible hoping to get a wow factor. There's nothing coherent about the Merc interior. BMW blows it out of the water

that is just rumor.. i hope one day there will be v12 version, at least limited edition, but that would kill RR SUV, because you get almoast same car with same engine for less than a half of price... yes, w woukd never ever be RR due to handmade factor, but still, v12 x7 isnt good option from economic point of view for bmw group

Just wait till they release the next generation GLS next spring. Mercedes was 8 years or more ahead of BMW in this class but I am very very impress with how the X7 turned out! I really like it alot and I am not a big SUV guy but I can see myself owning the new X7. I am sure the new GLS will address many of the shortcoming with the current one which is aging long in the tooth.

Can't wait to see the X7 in person!
With regard to the 3rd row seat in a GL, my 6'2 son that wears size 13 shoes has to sit sideways to be comfortable in our GL. One of his biggest gripes is getting in and out of the back seat due to car seats in the second row. Getting out of the 3rd row cleanly requires folding and flipping up of one of the second row seats that has a car seat fastened to it! So he ends up merely folding the seat back and hoping out. I'm looking forward to the captain's chair in the X7! |

True, it's meant for people with lots of kids who will have no issue back there. My kids actually prefer the 3rd row, it's like their personal space. If you have 6+ people in a car and the shortest guy is 6'2", and gets stuck in the back, that's just a rare scenario. You can't buy a car based on the outliers, or you'll never be happy.

As others have stated, not a fair comparison as the current GLS is being replaced by an all new model soon. Compare the new GLS to the X7 and it's going to be a very close contest. You are comparing a 8 year old design to a new one by doing this comparison. It's just an invalid comparison. That's like comparing the current GLE to the 2019 X5 (when the new GLE is right around the corner).

I saw the X7 at the LA auto show - somehow I was not sold on the looks at all.
Cannot quite pinpoint it - but proportions are weird like the Lexus LX. The X5 looks great - to me the X7 does not but no doubt it will sell fine. |

I find the third row of the current gen to be exceptional although ingress/egress is obviously a generation behind needing to fold the seats back and forth. That third row looks solid again. Going on the third gen of this thing they’ve always knocked it out of the park so expect same to be true this go around. Design language of the interior not my thing tho, as previewed in GLe |

I'm currently in a '17 GLS 450, which is a dinosaur compared to the X7. However, the GLS is in full redesign for '20, but I hated my '17 and never again!
